    Synthwave rock epic

Thanks for the in-depth listen Steve. I am definitely gonna duck the vocal to fix the de-essing - great call. Structurally the song doesn't go anywhere except for a gradual crescendo of sound toward the end. The guitar and vocals join in with soaring strings. It's meant to be a kind of big...

    Synthwave rock epic

Thanks, all true observations - yeah it's intended to have a kind of jam-like, cinematic quality. But hey I think the synths at least build from 8 to 9 when the Vangelis strings hit on the final third of the track! Yes, believe it or not, a bold steady beat is actually a Synthwave thing. But I...

    Synthwave rock epic

Thanks. Yes, very true observation. I did throw in some toms and cymbal crashes for the builds - but yeah the kick/snare marches along steadily, which I kind of prefer actually. A steady marching beat with the variation outsourced to the other instruments was my intent - but maybe I should do...

Thanks. Which vocal line are you referring to specifically?

Disaffected Alt Rock Bass Girl - Completely different version

I still feel like some low end needs to be cut off the bass and/or guitars (I think it's the bass tho). The main vocal is solid. The falsetto harmony vocal just feels weak to me - instead of harmony maybe throw in a background yelling part sung with some fire and add some reverb to it. It's...

Disaffected Alt Rock Bass Girl - Completely different version

Bass sounds slightly muddy/muffled. Might need to cut some low end. Drums and guitars sound nice. The falsetto harmony vocals sound a little weak and flimsy. Sing them with more fire and/or thicken them and raise their volume and you should be set. Cool song idea and lyrics.

Race To The Bottom - Retracked Grunge Song

Great track man. Mix sounds final to me. I might MAYBE raise the vocals slightly to give it a more pop vibe - but honestly they're fine and the dominant guitars sound great. Great performances and composition. How was this recorded? A real band? Guitar VST's or real mic'd amps? Real drums?

Civilization of the Mind (synthwave funk)

Hey so I realized my kick was mixed rather low and was contributing to the "flat" snare. I upped the kick by +2.5dB and I think it fattens up that snare punch noticeably more - how does it sound to you? Am I crazy? Same link in original post.

Civilization of the Mind (synthwave funk)

Yellow, thank you. I hear what you're saying about the snare and will be fixing it soon. I also need to cut some 200-300hz mud off the vox, good call. That is so funny you say the guitar is reminiscent of Echoes. I was going for a more Nile Rodgers muted funk. I an enormously influenced by the...

Civilization of the Mind (synthwave funk)

Alright, I think I figured out the drums. It was my damn limiter settings...do they kick through the mix better now? Same link above to the updated track - plus NEW VOCALS. And thank you to all who provided input!

Civilization of the Mind (synthwave funk)

Dwill, thanks for the review. I upped the drum levels and slightly boosted the kick low end. Let me know if they sound more forward in the mix. I actually do want to give the synths a slightly dominant sound. You are right about the variation - the open space is eventually going to be filled...

Civilization of the Mind (synthwave funk)

Hey guys, I know this forum doesn't get much electronic music, but I figured I'd give it a shot here. Vocals will be added later - just looking for thoughts on the mix quality of the instrumental. Thanks! Untitled 48 v10 (Civilization of the Mind) by Mothers Talk | Free Listening on SoundCloud

'Breathe' ..appreciate any observations re mix. Thanks.

Super cool idea and overall mix sounds solid. Only critique might be the drums could sound a bit wetter. The bass is adequate, but I kept envisioning how much cooler a more aggressive, perhaps even slap bass part would sound.

    "Michaels House", brand new tune

Fantastic song. So mind blowing music like this is made at the amateur level - or are you doing this semi-professional? How are you doing all the instruments? Is this a band of different individuals?

Sometimes I Keep On Hoping- Guitar Composition

Cool idea, just a bit muddy on the low-end. I might cut around 200hz. Some of the solo'd notes sound a bit unsure or out of place to me (like starting @ 1:20) - but those ideas can continue solidify as you continue working the track.

    Slave - Grunge Song

Sounds awesome. No issues jumped out at me. I'm just curious how you're getting the guitar and drum sounds? VSTs?

"Pali Face", a fuzzy spacey instrumental

Rich guitars and a love the Em jam at the outro. Was this all done using mic'd guitar tones?

Thanks man. I was thinking about keeping it a short instrumental piece, unless you guys think it demands vocals. Thoughts?
