    Pro Audio 9 vs Sonar

PA9 to Sonar PA9 came with my Aardvark and I upgraded to Sonar. I didn't really use PA9 much, but I thought they improved the user interface and drivers. Particularly after Sonar 2. If you upgrade to the latest version of Sonar, you should notice improvements.

    Any suggestions for this mix?

Demo Mix I thought the overall mix was good. Personally I would've brought the bass and bass drum track up a little. I thought the lead was acceptable level since it should stand out a little above the mix.

    Headphones for home studio/monitoring

That's my vote too. There's a reason you see them everywhere.

Looking for a decent amp modeler

I've used the POD XT and it's very good. It may be better then the PRO. It not only emulates the amp but the cabinet and the mic on the cabinet.

    Recording drums... help please!

Recording Drums To get the best sound, mic with a 8 channel mixer into the 2 channels. Run 2 overheads (you can split to stereo), bass drum, snare, tom1, tom2, tom3, either hi-hat or floor tom (usually hi-hat cuts through because of the overheads). As always when not getting each mic on a...

CD Mastering: One seamless WAV file or several WAV files?

One Big File I normally approach a project as a whole. An EP for example, has normally about 4 songs. You would want those 4 songs to all be at a similar volume and frequency range when played track after track on the CD. So, you would load all 4 in together as a single WAV and apply the same...

    Completed panoramic studio shots

Live room dimensions It's 25' x 12' by 7' 1'' with an over hang dropping to 6' 4'' over 6' 7'' of the 25' length. I think that little detail and a desk with drum cases on the end not visible tends to break of some bad reflections in the room.

Fair Use of Covers for Studio Site

Would this also hold true for the band? If the band wanted to post 15 second clips to gain the interest of clubs on their own web site? If it's a problem for the band, what if they posted a link to the studio site?

Fair Use of Covers for Studio Site

Ok, here's a legal question for someone to wrangle. A band has recorded a demo CD of cover tunes to get gigs with and to include in promo packs. I would like to post a 30 second clip of the music (each song) on the studio's web site to provide perspecive clients examples of the studio's mixing...

    Copy Writing Tunes

Copyrighting works I'm not sure if anyone has said this before, but you can copyright an entire CD or collection at once and save on individal fees. I think it offers just as much protection and less paperwork.

    Studio pics updated

Re: LOOKING GOOD!!! It was moved many times. It did get dusty but we used dropcloth whenever possible and cleaned up the dust and equipment when we were done. Most of the gear is on wheels. That helps some too.

Sonar v.s. eMagic v.s. Pro Tools

What are your finished product goals? Either CD-R with tracks mixed down or CD-R mastered for duplication. Will you be providing services to the public? Yes. Will you be sharing music files with other studios? I would like to in case the clients would like their work mastered elsewhere...

That's $30 per hour with a 4 hour minimum between 10AM and Midnight. I'll admit the 12AM/PM is very easily confused. :)

Please help me defrost my nuts

Heater I'm with the other guys. Go with the oil filled heater (old radiator style). Very inexpensive and no sound at all. Just got one at the hardware store for $30 and it has 1500 watt, 800 watt, and 700 watt settings. I completely blocked all my forced air ducts into the recording room.
