    i had the cad drum mic package, the one that was supposedly the "best" of them. lol in the end it still didnt cut it as soon as i got the chance i immeadiately ditched it for a couple 57s and an akg d112 beleive me spending a little more on mics for drums expecially one by one REALLY pays off...

    Iim pretty sure lately this man named ian from around here has been putting out recordings that i think could easily compete with professional studios. all he uses is a motu 828 mkII and presonus digimaxlt preamps with low priced microphones as well

    i dont see the point in spending money to buy a controller or mixer for audio recorded on the computer. the only thing it can really help with is just moving faders slightly faster

    idk of CEPs capability but i know in like cubase if you record everything mono or w/e you can apply different amounts of stereo bus effects that make the instruments really have presence

    400 mb/s is just the maximum runnign rate or a firewire port me and my dad figured out how many mb/s it takes for one track at 24 bit 96khz i dont quite remember, but its not much. this is why firewire is golden

    the firebox would definately suit your needs my motu has only 45 db of gain and it is more than enough and i believe the firebox has 50+ db something worth looking at possibly is the new mackie satellite?

    the sp5s shouldnt give you a problem you could probably place them to sound pretty good it wouldve really killed you if you were using omnidirectionals :D

    wow definately the 8 pre its 550 50 more than the firepod yes but 8 pre has expandability options like the adat optical thats what would have sold me haveing 8 channels of 96 khz of adat is worht the extra 50 and plus i dont think motu stuff is made in china like firepods cold be wrong though

    What gives the onyx premps the advantage when recording through a 400f or a 800r into a daw. Some people say that the quality blows motu out of the water but there converters are comparable in dynamic range 111 db for motu and 113 for mackie, so what makes it so good?

    if i were to purchase the 8 channel onyx preamps the onyx 800r and hooked it up to my motu 896HD through adat this would be like 2 mackie 400f's with the motus preamps as well?
