    Haha, damn right.

    Drum booth

Thanks, but I pretty much knew all that already :) The bit I'm struggling with is the actual construction of the thing. I could talk all day about double studded walls, floated floors, droped ceilings, but I have no idea how to actually go about building them. I figured plans or what-have-you...

    Drum booth

Hey all. For a few months now I've been looking into building a drum booth so that I can go at it in my garage without pissing off the already miserable neighbours. At first I looked at stuff like Esmono and Whisper rooms, but there's just no way I can afford something like that. Earlier today...

Need a Drummer's Point of View

It's a sickness... Mics feed egos. Granted, I'm not a good singer at all. But that's beside the point really.

Snare solos..which rudiments are better for them?

I tend to use buzz rolls that go into single strokes with the left hand accented. I also use a lot of rim shots as well. TBH, though, I don't really think about what I'm doing when I'm soloing or doing fills. I just do what sounds right

Popping noise when burning mixes to cd

Ah, that's a point. I've never used Media Player to burn, so I don't know if that's a common problem or not. I've always used Nero and never had any issues. Have you tried it on a few different systems? It could be an issue with the cd player you're using. Other than that, I honestly don't know...

Check out my latest project (Update!)

I like it. The mix comes across nice and clear (I'm listening through shitty laptop speakers). The drums sound punchy and tight, and the guitars are a nice wall of sound on the heavier parts. The only criticism I have is that the vocals don't seem to sit very well in mix, but the guy doesn't...

Popping noise when burning mixes to cd

What speed are you burning at? AFAIK you should be burning at the lowest speed possible.

Need a Drummer's Point of View

Seconded. I'm the same, and I sing as well so even our singer has to tone down the ego a little bit :). And pretty soon I'll be handling the recording of our next demo. First the band, next...the world! Muahahahaha....ahem. Sorry :o

    Drum/Iso Booth

Just found this while I was looking for info about building a drum room. Did you ever finish the booth, and if so how did it turn out? I'd be interested to hear about how you've put it to use, and the process of building it.

Please help : mixing drums with ? to buy

Fair enough, you learn something new every day. I'm still waiting for my 57 to show up (bloody slow ebayers...grr...). I can't wait to play with it though :D But anyway...I've always liked the sound of the AKG D112 on bass. It's good if (like me) you want the click. Not so good if you don't, as...

Modern Metal Guitar Tone - (w/ sample)

I don't think that was what he was looking for... To the OP, I can't help you, sorry. To anybody else, I'd be glad to hear your answers. I'm after that kind of guitar tone myself.

Please help : mixing drums with ? to buy

If you're going to be triggering you'd be better off using a shitty £5 computer mic, just to record the impedance. Don't risk a 57 on it - I don't think they're designed to handle that kind of SPL. I could be wrong though, so I'd wait for somebody more knowledgeable than me to either agree or...

This is what happens when my younger brother records with his friends

Kinda reminds me of a band that gig around here, I think they're called This Product. I've only heard one of their songs recorded, mind, but this definitely remind me of it - although their's is slightly more System Of A Down than Sesame Street

    water water, evrywhere

The only problem I can see is having potential phase issues when running both the hot and cold taps simultaneously. Otherwise you should be good to go.

Mastered version of a band I recorded:

That's a nice initial recording, sounds like (as Greg_L said) all the guy did was crank up the volume. The snare could be a bit meatier, and - as I think everybody else has pointed out - the low end seems to be completely missing. But if you're happy, they're happy, everyone that matters i...

Anyone into heavy and gloomy music

I can't really give any input beyond what has already been said here. I like it though, I'd agree with the Pelican comment...maybe with a bit of Isis thrown in for good measure. Nice.

Would the water in your studio put out the fire in my wires?

    Zoom HD16/similar

Cheers for that. I was looking at using it as a control surface as well, which would be ideal really - and that's one of the things that has attracted me to it. Does anybody know anything about the preamps on the zoom? I'm not really going to have the option of using the lineins, unless I...
