You can't copy a legit alignment tape and use it for alignment. Legit tapes are full track. If you copy a full track tape, you end up having to align your machine to the specs of the machine that the tape was copied from and it might not be aligned at all!
You COULD make your machine worse than...
I changed my battery this year. The old one was still working after 6 years.
When the battery becomes weak, the hiss starts and the volume of the sound begins to get lost.
It is with great thanks that most of the participants here are saved by the mighty ones with all the knowledge. Why you are here is a great mystery. If you want to talk in great depth about recording, there are many professional BBs sites. Maybe you should join one? This place is for Home...
The argument will cease when the last tape machine crumbles to pieces. Since there are no new ones sold, it has to end one fine day. Until then, enjoy the analog tape machine for all its worth.
Generally used to tame certain frequency bands in a recording you had no control over. Most used on live recordings where eack track has either massive bleed or combined parts that can't be seperated.
Also used as a crutch for bad mixing skills. Although, as a tool, you can't throw the baby...
The 3:1 rule is a naturally occuring ratio (like Pi is in math) that happens in home recording. Some applications are:
1. For every $3 spent on equipment, $1 is recouped upon sale of such equipment.
2. For 3 musicians on any 1 take of a recording, 1 will screw up and make a mistake.
3. For...
You have to connect the source (mic, line) to the trackmaster's input and the output of the trackmaster goes into the *return* of the insert connector of the mixer. Read the manual of your mixer as to which signal connection of the TRS connector is the return. Allen&Heath use the *ring* as the...
The Trident name was bought by a clueless guy who tries to make the world beleive that they are "original" Trident of the past. The new ones are not anywhere near the same. Is it a good pre-amp for $400 is a different question entirely.
These are pretty interesting times in audio. These days I (as a home mastering person) can buy a "pro' CD so I can learn how NOT to master a CD.
Its kind of like I get the CD of my favorite band AND a free mastering tool.
Neat-o
"Group Buy" is just a modern name to get around the spam rules. There is always a profit. No one in their right mind would put that kind of work into anything like this without making a profit somewhere.
I PREFER Tape (2") but I LIKE HD recording because there are no hassles.
Die hard analog or digital fans both have blinders on full tilt. Any recording dismissed as being flawed soley because it was done on analog or digital equipment means that the recording is not the issue at all.
I have a Voicemaster Pro that I use quite alot. The pre-amp is quite good. The rest of the toys are very touchy. If someone took my two racks of stuff away, I could get by with just the VM Pro. I don't know about the other Focusrite stuff other than the RED series. The DMP3 (which I have) is...
Adding a second channel is much cheaper than adding another power supply, case, wiring, pots, knobs etc. That is why there is a small price difference between the two. The other thing is the NEW Universal Audio stuff is not in the same league as the originals. Like Neumann and Telefunkin, these...
