I ran accross a reference to them at Warmoth.com where a builder in the gallary was raving about them.
There is this Animal Magnetism book they referenced at their web site that I bought several years ago when I built a custom fretless bass. It was also rather esoteric and eccentric as well...
Anone here ever hear of these pickups?
www.Q-tuner.com
They get into some metaphysical stuff about sound and psychology. I do believe there is a relationship to chords, rhythms, tones and scales to emotions but not that a specific pickup would be more emotionaly intune than another pickup...
Isn't there a law against monopolizing rare and vintage mics?
Holy microphone Cow.
They really should be forced to share.
I will probably never even see one of the vintage mics in that collection in person!
That should narrow it down for someone with more experience to recomend to you.
Here is a link at the Listengsessions.com and most of the preamps listed from 0-5 on the clean to more colored scale should meet your needs.

Mr Produca,
While I don't have much experience with the highend stuff there are plenty of guys here that would be glad to offer suggestions that do have the experience.
To help them help help you please give us some more information.
1. Can you get by with one very nice channel or do you need...
Okay I want to know who is running up the prices of these things on e-bay?
Please stop.
When I first read about them they were supposed to be very inexpensive used, extremely durable and pleasant for an omni dynamic mic. Prices were described as $20 -$35 used.
Being I don't have any...
Okay I only have one so far for those of us unfortunate enough to be stuck using drum machines.
I call this a "pseudo overhead" for electronic drums.
Back in my 4 track casette days I/we obviously had some limiting choices and I had a Roland DR-5 for my drum machine. Great practicing and...
Guilty as charged! :D
Actually it is the very reason I got into home recording.
All the best preamps went to the drums. I always worked very hard on getting the right tone and dynamics through my amps and have always been complented on my live tone.
Every time we went to the studio my...
I would recomend the Larrivee.
Just went through the same process this spring.....
I actually prefer the satin finish and went with the 03 series but it has sollid rosewood sides and back with no wood cut out for the EQ preamp.
Like this without the factory installed system...
IMHO the MP3 format would be inaduquate for critical evaluation of any compressor or preamps.
Good news though is that most big online retailers and BC usually have a "satisfaction guarntee".
I don't know but since the DJL inquistion has stopped perhaps Alan from PMI could enlighten us on the responses he has recieved regarding the two.
I seem to remember him talking about it being able to be more neutral and/or more colored depending on how you set the controls.
Thanks Ssscientist I know I could count on you :)
I will give that a shot.
BTW I want to invite you over the digonstock.com for any G related discussions or help you might like to offer. There are a few of us MIDI impaired individuals over there trying to make use of the MIDI on the G and...
