Adding an external speaker out to vintage amp question.

That is also an option however I like the vintage sound for clean to mildly distorted that comes out of the stock speaker for some things and I want to preserve the condition it is in. Plus I also enjoy wood working projects and want to design a new cabinet that will incorporate two features...

Adding an external speaker out to vintage amp question.

Thanks easychair That is another option but there is a risk of accidentally running the amp without a speaker hooked up wich can fry the amp. The switched jack method ensures that the internal speaker alwasy remains hooked up unless another speaker is plugged in (well for the most part). I...

Thanks Fenderville. I did a search as well but was suprised not to come up with anything either.

Adding an external speaker out to vintage amp question.

I have a 1960 Kalamazoo (Gibson) Model One 5 watt tube amp that has some pretty awesome tone and perfect for my home recording volume wise. All 100% class A desong with three tubes....the budget part of this Gibson line is the cabinet is made or particle board. The only weak spot is the...

Most versatile small home recording amp

If you are on a budget I highly recomend the Gibson made Kalamazoo tube amps Models 1 and 2. Stay away from models 3 and 4 they were solid state. Models 1 and 2 were all hand wired class A with three tubes. They used all quality electronics for the day (1965-1967) but cut prices by using by...

Most versatile small home recording amp

While I voted for the Roland Cube 30 as it is incredibly versatile and I liked it better than the Vox. That being said I picked up a Kalamazoo (Gibson) Model One tube amp. All class A, 3 tubes 5 watts, 10" speaker for around $100 bucks! Guitar > Keeley Compressor > Kalamazoo > Awesome sound...

    Dean 12 stings?

Hi YeshuasFan, I dig your user name and signature...got to add that to my good thoughts and quotes collection. I would not judge Dean's by their acoustics. Acoustic guitars are best left to companies that really specialize in acoustics and don't just slap there name on a cheap generic to make...

    Dean 12 stings?

No there are only two humbuckers with contrasting white/black bobbin casings. One three way toggle pickup selector One volume One tone control I did find some postive harmony central reviews here; http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/Data4/Dean_Guitars/Chafin_Sarasota_12_String-01.html

    Dean 12 stings?

Just curious if anyone has tried out one of the Dean semi-hollow body 12 string electrics like the Sarasota or the Bocca? http://www.deanguitars.com/sarasota_12.htm I have not seen any at the local GC to try out. At their price point (under $500) they look nice in the photo's but I would...

Marshall revives the V77s Tube Mic in a newly designed body...

Will do and thanks for the link! I have read lots of good stuff on the Mullards and the Millennia site even recomended them for those who found the TD-1 a little "too clean". The included HV-3 mic pre is an excellent super clean preamp that is perfect for classical and other more acoustic...

    in the spirit of DIY.......

That would look nicer. One of the versions "TNT stubby" used a long all thread rod along with routing a groove for the pipe and glue so you don't need to use the flange at all. One center counter sunk screw and washer on each end clamps the two wooden ends together and no exposed bolts or...

Ditto on the C-control at $99 you still have $400 for other little things like an RNC.

Octava 012 vs. Marshall 603s test

Good point on the DMP3. A guy on another forum I respect likes it for his acoustic guitars and says it is 95% as good as some $1,000 preamps with the right mics for this one application. He doesn't use it for vocals but the DMP3 seems to a serious bang for the buck on the acoustic guitars.

    Rack mounted distortions

The out of production ADA preamps may work for you but they are getting pricey, harder to find and may need some work but I believe they had the first real tube preamp with MIDI controlled presets (or the first successful one). www.adadepot.com has an active forum and links to at least two...

Or you could donate to someone working with a tenth of your collection and hope good Kharma pays off after school :p Sounds like a very nice setup and I second the recomendation for Dan/Dot at Soundpure. Exceptionally helpful, very novice friendly but experienced enough with using all the top...

Octava 012 vs. Marshall 603s test

From my readings over two or three years I have found the following concensus from people with better pre's to hear the differences as Ozraves rightly said. 1. Most people say the 603's are one of the best mandolin mic's and MXL seems to have better consistancy. 2. For acoustic guitars the...

Marshall revives the V77s Tube Mic in a newly designed body...

The kidv has it right. Low cost requires mass production "economies of scale" and that pretty much rules out NOS tubes. Sure some us would be willing to pay another $15 for a better tube but for the price point these are selling at the tubes in any sub $500 mic probably cost the manufacturer...
