In just a few hours. I have been looking for a good mixdown deck and I finally found one in my area! I am wondering if I can check/adjust the calibration myself with the MRL test tape i already purchased when I got my Fostex Model 80 (21J303-A). I would really hate to buy another $100+ tape...

Can this be used to bulk erase 1/4" tape, or should I just get the Han-D-Mag?

I think you can use your tascam 688 just as a mixer, if you go out of the fostex model 80 into it with a recording snake (rca to 1/4"). I sometimes do the same thing and use the mixer of my Tascam 424 mkIII over my Mackie ;)

I finally got my hands on a quality compressor (RNC). I was wondering where you guys are using these...I'm sure there's no "wrong" way, but is it more commonly used while tracking, or is it better to use this through my mixer during a stereo mixdown?
