    So I'm picking up a Tascam 22-2

I'm not sure if mastering on 407 is the best choice for me. I do sometimes track with it on my 8-track.

    So I'm picking up a Tascam 22-2

Yeah, i wasn't really planning on using the slower speed, just was curious if it would need separate calibration. Which I probably won't need to bother with ;)

    So I'm picking up a Tascam 22-2

So do you mean I can only use it to calibrate the "high" speed on the 22-2? And I'm planning on using BASF sm-468. Those are compatible with Quantegy 456, correct?

Wow, no replies? Ok, well then if I can't use the MRL 21J303-A test tape what should I buy for the 22-2?

    So I'm picking up a Tascam 22-2

In just a few hours. I have been looking for a good mixdown deck and I finally found one in my area! I am wondering if I can check/adjust the calibration myself with the MRL test tape i already purchased when I got my Fostex Model 80 (21J303-A). I would really hate to buy another $100+ tape...

    Teac E-3 Demag...

Can this be used to bulk erase 1/4" tape, or should I just get the Han-D-Mag?

fostes model 80 with tascam 688??

I think you can use your tascam 688 just as a mixer, if you go out of the fostex model 80 into it with a recording snake (rca to 1/4"). I sometimes do the same thing and use the mixer of my Tascam 424 mkIII over my Mackie ;)

Should I get a 2 track deck for mixdown??

Thanks for the Model 20 info! There's also a Fostex A-2 on Ebay I was looking at, I'm leaning more towards the Model 20, but any advice/info on the A-2 would be great! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260065193404&sspagename=ADME:L:RTQ:US:1

Should I get a 2 track deck for mixdown??

I'm looking at a Fostex Model 20 thats in a local shop. Tim, do you know if i would be able to check/adjust the calibration of the machine with MRL 21J303-A tape? You helped me pick that out a while back for my Model 80! ;)

Should I get a 2 track deck for mixdown??

Great, thanks again for the info, I'll look into those. I've never used one before, so I have a few questions.. Would I just go from the outs of my mixdown deck into the cd recorder (no mixer)? Is there going to be a big noticeable advantage to using one, rather than just making the cd on my...

Should I get a 2 track deck for mixdown??

Tim, Thanks so much for the info! Are there any reasonably inexpensive stand-alone CD recorders I should look into?

Should I get a 2 track deck for mixdown??

I think i might pick one up, just to see how I like it. I was thinking the Fostex Model 20 might be a nice match to my 80? I havent been able to find much info on it though...

Where are you using your compressor(s)?

I finally got my hands on a quality compressor (RNC). I was wondering where you guys are using these...I'm sure there's no "wrong" way, but is it more commonly used while tracking, or is it better to use this through my mixer during a stereo mixdown?

Should I get a 2 track deck for mixdown??

I've been tracking with a Fostex model 80, and either sending a stereo mix into my PC, or at times sending all 8 tracks separately (when a lot of editing might be needed) through my M-Audio Delta 1010lt at 24 bits. Lately I've been a bit curious though, will there be much of a benefit in doing...

    fostex model 80 to computer/reel/DAT??

I have a model 80 as well I track with a Fostex model 80 and then dump all 8 tracks (at the same time) on my pc using an M-audio delta 1010lt card. That card allows you to record 8 separate tracks, simultaneously. The mix/final edits are done on the computer. The sound is great. Just use...
