    2 hard drives?

The reason I started this thread is that I just upgraded to Sonar Producer & the file is large & has exceeded the capacity of my backup drive. I think my best bet is to get a solid state backup - 500 gigabytes to give me room for expansion. Any thoughts or suggestions of what & where to get one...

    2 hard drives?

All good replies. Speaking of HD failure...are there any warning signs other than noise or slowing down? ie I don't know when to upgrade. I hate to rush it as it gets expensive if they only last 5 years or so...including solid state HD's so I've read.?

    OK thanks!

    2 hard drives?

How important is it to use 2 hard drives? Or partition a hard drive? I'm a serious amateur, not a power user & so far it's all on one HD on my computer, along with everything else & works fine. I'm researching ahead for whenever I upgrade. Thanks.

    open older projects into template

Sonar X 1, Guitar Tracks 2..I think I got it - open both projects, copy & paste one into the other.

    console view

I've thought about it...sooner or later I'll need to upgrade to a new computer.

    console view

    it's 1440 x 900 - the highest I've got.

    console view

Actually the fix/or workaround was to show less modules.

    console view

Thanks. It's a little slow in loading but works OK otherwise.

    open older projects into template

Hi - Just starting on Sonar. I have lots of old projects done in cakewalk. I can open them in Sonar but I want to open them/copy them somehow into my template to save having to reset all of the parameters every time I open an old project. Importing doesn't work. Is there a way to do this? Thanks

    different reverbs

Do you ever use more than one kind of reverb in the same piece? ie one for drums, another for vox, maybe a lite verb in the mastering stage for everything. Or just dif amounts of the same verb patch? Thanks.

    Scott Garrigus X1 book

Is that as good as any other book for learning Sonar? Thanks.

    console view

Hi - Still working with the x1 demo. I see I'm a little under the system requirements. I have an Intel T2250@1.75 ghz 794 mhz & 1 gig ram. Could this account for the view problem? And can i still use sonar?? It seems OK so far in the demo. Thanks!

    flexible routing

OK I'm looking at Cakewalk Guitar Tracks Pro 3: the mixing console outputs give me a choice of my sound card ("USB device") or subgroup 1-8. The bus panel shows the 8 subgroup channel strips, each with a choice to route the output to the sound card, subgroup 1-8, or aux 1 & 2. The aux...

    flexible routing

I don't even know enough to answer...routing some backup vox (more than one track) from the mixing console to the master?? or to the aux return? I just know there is more that you can do than what I am currently doing.

    switching DAWs

I was using Guitar tracks 2 - don't laugh. It's limited but the work flow is so fast. So far I'm just spending a lot of time resizing windows & trying to remember too much info in Sonar. i know I'll get better but the question is how long do i want to hang in there.

    flexible routing

Hi guys - another question: I'm slow in understanding more flexible ways to do routing - such as a submix for background vox. Can someone point me to a link that would give me ideas & explained well? Thanks.

    console view

Hi - I'm working through the x1 demo...I'm new to Sonar & when I call up the console view, it doesn't fit exactly on the screen & I have to scroll a little bit. The information either at the top or bottom is cut off. This is a big distraction. Am I missing something - is there a way to get it to...

    switching DAWs

Thanks for responses. Seidy - yr right about both Reaper & sonar. Looks like I need to go with Sonar, even though I like a lot of things about Reaper.

    switching DAWs

Hi - I'm not new but not a power user like many here. I've been using an old version of Cakewalk for the ease of work flow & now looking at Sonar & Reaper... When someone changes DAWs - that's a major step - & unless you stay with the same company, you wouldn't have access to all your...
