    Soundfonts vs. wave files

If you get Sonar you get Live Synth, but it's limited to 1MB fonts. It's worth it however to upgrade LPS to enable unlimited size fonts. The real good fonts are 30MB minimum at a time.

    Soundfonts vs. wave files

All these advantages as mentioned plus -it is already neatly packed into a singe file -you can velocity layer wavs in soundfonts (i.e. different wavs depending on velocity) -it is key mapped and transpose automatically to the next key (if set up that way)

    Help!!! Can I do this?!

James, you are correct that this can be done with SB live & soundfonts. Carlos can even use Livesynth Pro instead of SB live. Soundfonts have many problems, but many advantages. The main problem is that you have to assign it to the drum track 10. If not, watch out the note lenghts. This means...

    Help!!! Can I do this?!

Probably the best way to do this is to use a drum sampler like Fxpantion DR005 (or DR008 if you have Sonar 2) or Computer Music's SR202. Note: Just watch out for copyright infringements if you want to publish the song later.

    Project 5: should I?

Why not record clean and dirty it all up in Sonar? My path: Fender strat -> Eurorack MX602A (mixer) -> DMX 6fire (soundcard) -> Sonar. Now you have a choice of many VSTi's & DXi's to get the sound. My favourites: FxEq -> Fx compressor/gate -> MDA detune - > (choice of revalver, amplitube or...
