I've got a question. This is no attack or anything but Will, you've been here 6 days, 20 posts, rep power of zero, but a lot of green chicklets. How the hell did you get to change the blurb under your name already?
big muff pi. I know its modeled for vintage but I just toyed around with it and got some weird sort of modern fuzz results. I don't know if its what you're looking for probably don't go buy it.
Come on....that would be a shure thing to do though.
I bought one that didn't swivel at all. But the whole mic broke (bad wiring) so I think it wasn't new when I bought it from someone who said it was new. My other one swivels and its annoying.
Definitely get some better mics, be they dynamics or condensers. Also, think about a soundcard; I'm guessing since you didn't list one you are using one designed for recording.
What mic were you planning on buying? Some people hate to buy off ebay, but I guess you just have to be careful and smart about where you buy from and not go around and buy anything that has a low price. Never had a really bad experience.
You really should give a price range for what you are willing to spend. When it comes to macs, buy the best you can afford and you'll be covered. If you don't want to spend that much and still want the capabilities, go with the regular macbook 2 ghz dual core. However, if you want to use your...
You don't even need isolation headphones (they would be nice but pretty expensive). I use closed back headphones and just turn up the volume a little bit. If your click track uses a sound almost like a sidestick or a woodblock, you can hear it over the drums.
I EQ my sound to the way I want it. Then I apply the compression to a sound that I like instead of EQing a compressed sound. If I use reverb I might throw it on last so I don't compress the reverb.
Kick's a little too loud and overbearing at least on my speakers but if that's what you are going for keep it up. Where are your overheads located? It soudns like they are picking up the toms fine but are missing the cymbals completely. Try to get most of your sound with the overheads and...
Sonor's are pretty nice. I have a 1005 for recording (wish I had a 2005). I don't know for what they run for in the land down under but they are pretty nice and pretty cheap. 9-ply basswood too. Or 9-ply birch on the 2005.
The jacks on the back are S/PDIF jacks (digital audio jacks). You probably wouldn't be using those when recording from a analog mixer.
But anyways, the 1010 is worth it.
