Its usually a feel thing. When does the riff repeat? When does it go back to the I chord? There are no rules just play them when you think it fits. but, I know you probably want a more precise answer so, usually every four bars is good as in basic music chord progressions will repeat. Also...

Why can't you just install pro tools 9 on your laptop? as long as you bring the ilok you can use 9 where ever.

As far as I know that is only possible when you are running pro tools 9. Other than that you should just buy a 1/8 to 1/4 converter and plug the speakers into the interface.

They aren't bad, I own them and use them but as well mostly on acoustic for overheads they aren't my first choice.
