    Black Winged Doves (Audition Demo)

I hate they for saying that. I don't think it is (always or necessarily) true. ---------- Update ---------- I'd love to hear the song with the vocalist on it.

    Scar Crossed Lovers (temp)

If it weren't for the toms, I wouldn't think these drums are in a box. Seems like a pretty straightforward rock tune. The vocal delivery will make or break it, but it is solid as it stands right now: Guitars are solid, bass is solid, drums are solid. Love your lyrics, as per usual. :thumbs up:

Thanks, I think I see what you mean. We will check it out, thanks! Yeah, that's me singing. :shrugs:

    So Untrue

I think this sounds really nice. All the tones are pleasing to listen to. The drums fit better than the first mix I listened to. I am glad the bass player decided to step out a little and play something complimentary to the guitar lines. The end of the song has "baby that's untrue yeah" sung...

    Feedback please!

It's a competently performed and recorded song. I like the vocalist. Many small details (vocal vibrato, drum sound, overall reverb, guitar tone, among others) lean heavily on a 1980's kind of metal/ballad thing, and it certainly works in that capacity. Good stuff.

The mix is doing great. If dobro can't get the vocal done, I am down to try. ;)

Thanks, we will clean up the HF a little bit on this one.

    I keep waking up dead.....

I like this tempo a lot, the halftime feel stuff always gets me going. Reverse solos at 1:45 are like a promise of things to come, somewhat foreboding.

    Four Volcas of the Apocolypse

Sounds good, mangosteen. I like the drum samples.

Now for a little bit of a blues shuffle ...

Well done! I like the lead guitar tones plenty, and the drummer has that shit on lock. I like the background vocals in verse two. Tune has a Grateful Dead feel to it.

    Hello Rainbow

It's an Ibanez something or another five string, active pickups, direct into a Great River MP2NV. That is all.

    ..Fixed. Good catch.

    Hello Rainbow

You are right about the hat being loud in places. I can't really change it now, but part of what sounds bad is the MP3 just shredding the brass generally.

    Hello Rainbow

    Thanks, man - that's awesome.

This is funny. The ric, the jazz and p basses all sat this record out (with the exception of a little fretless Jbass on one song). This is James' Ibanez. It's ugly and inexpensive, but sounds great, and so we just kept reaching for it, lol.

    Outside Part 2

Sounds pretty cool. Your voice and delivery remind me of Eric Clapton.

This is probably the closest thing to a single on Explorer. The increased noise floor at the beginning is an LP playing, and makes more sense in context. Let me know what you think.

Thanks - it's more of a balancing act than ever before, because we are mastering this album as a single song, and dividing it into 23 tracks. It's around 1:18:00. Oh, and it's a guitar. :)
