What are the most punchiest power tubes?

the reason i didn't put the original cry baby on the poll was because I had an original cry baby, and i broke within the first year i had it. It's tone sounded anemic to me as well.

well, they sound fine. And I havent heard an echo when I tap on the tubes. So what your saying is that the color or the ligtened tube is not a good indicator or wether or not the tube is busted?

how do i know my power tubes are busted? All the 6L6's I've seen light up blue (including mine), but some of them in my amp look brownish... Is that bad? How would I know my tubes have blown, or are on theyre way out?

fender amps some of the best distorted sounds i have heard believe it or not come from fender amps, marshalls and mesa's are good as well but are expensive... also dod do not have the best distorition. Play some of the 2x12 fender amps, even with a single coil strat u can get some kick ass...

okay... I have a mesa/boogie power amp with 6L6's in it... i want to try out some 6550's... They sound more punchy... firstly, would the 6L6 slots be able to accomodate the 6550 tubes? and if they could, would I need to get a bais readjustment? ~thanks

still a little lost i don't even know what I want to do... I just want to know what chaining cabs was and how i do it... only thing that i DO know is that chaining cabs lowers resistance... like 2 8 ohm cabs is a 4 ohm load...
