Well, my recordings aren't sounding like I want them to, and I want to make sure it's not the 4-track. Is it possible to overdrive the preamps by putting very loud signals through them? Like if I ran something really really loud (like uh a power amp out) through the 4-track, could I overload it...

I have a suspicion that my TASCAM 424's circuitry may have been damaged due to overdriving it. Is there some way that I can test for this? Because I'm not entirely sure if it is or not. And if it is broken, how do I fix it? Or do I need to (gasp) buy a new one? Thanks, --ishou [This message...

This is my first MP3 submission to this BBS. These songs were recorded a year ago by my high school garage band in response to our unfair defeat in the school's talent show. They were recorded with only 3 Shure mics (not SM5x's though) we borrowed from the stage, my TASCAM 424MKII, and a ZOOM...

Thanks Tim, What I'm trying to do is A) Make my recording enviroment sound nice, as opposed to the crappy flutter echo present in my big barn, and B) keep other instruments out of there! So, yes, i see that B) is fullfilled by this. I also want to use it for voice, cause i hear a nice studio...
