    Will This Damage My Monitors?

Alright, I guess I'll just stick with the way I've been doing it then. Thanks for the help!

    Will This Damage My Monitors?

Hey everyone, quick question. I have my interface and my mixer plugged into a power strip that I just turn on and off when I want the devices to turn on and off. (Neither of them have their own on/off switches.) I have a pair of M-Audio BX5a's that DO have on/off switches in the back. If I...

    drum test

Cool. I think you've pretty much got it down. Get great sounds at the source.

    drum test

Haha sometimes simplicity works best. You can try boosting the kick more. I've heard some good results with just one mic outside of the res. head, but I find it hard to get a good sound. I guess you just have to keep trying without cuttings holes in the heads. What OH mics did you go with...

    drum test

:laughings: Nah, but seriously. It works well in the mix. As you confirmed, the kick is a bit weak. To tell you the truth, I was expecting a lot worse when I was giving you tips on recording drums. :o I also might add that the playing is exceptionally tight for not being a drummer. With...

    New Metal Mix - Critique?

+1 on this. I'm listening on headphones right now. I think the guitars can come down a little bit. The overall drum sound is fantastic! Did you sample replace? I'm curious to know your process of recording them.

I know of some REALLY GOOD free ones. Try Drumcore 3 Free, and MyDrumsetRocks by Bluenoise Audio. Very very very good stuff.

    Order to Record Instruments?

I would do the guitars, harmonica, violins, then vocals. You can pretty much do what you want though. My reasoning behind this is the guitars provide a solid base to the song, the harmonica and violins will just be additions to the song, then the singer can adjust their singing to the feel of...

    Anyone wanna collaborate.

I'm up for guitar. Just let me know what's going on. I don't really care for Blink 182 all that much, but I can go for some recording right now.

nanoPad song: Playing with cute toy :D

Wow that actually sounds really freakin' cool. It's real raunchy sounding. Real awesome. The mix is a bit bass heavy, but it works for the song. It's not something I could sit down and listen to as entertainment though. It's just not my genre of choice. Good job.

    Reaper Experts

Use dropbox, box.net, soundcloud, reverbnation, lightning mp3, or soundclick to upload your music. It will be easier to help you if we hear what it is you're doing.

    Got a new video camera

Yeah that's what I was talking about. Gecko just expanded it. :D The green screen might be the easiest, but the crappiest looking. It's one of those things that takes a while to get to look halfway decent.

    Got a new video camera

Cloning works well. Haha but seriously, you can do something like leaving the camera in one spot then moving your position with each instrument. You'll need video editing software to crop each video so it looks like multiple yous.

Too bad he doesn't use a bottom snare mic... Maybe he can tape it to his stick!

    Mixing an Acoustic Guitar, pointers?

https://homerecording.com/bbs/general-discussions/recording-techniques/acoustic-guitar-recording-101-a-290919/ Acoustic guitars should sound halfway done even before mixing. It is very important to get a good sound at the source. I advise against the pickup in the acoustic. It does not sound...

    Do you pan your bass?

Nope. I do not like panning bass at all (with the exception of doing it for effect, then switching back to center).

    Discouraged From Recording

Woops. I've been neglecting this thread for a while. I thought it died. :D Thanks for all the posts. I'm on the verge of getting out of this writers block. I'm writing some parts of songs, but verses/bridges/choruses won't come to me. I'll just keep going and see what happens.
