The best way to transfer the analog signal from my 244 to my computer

Ha. I hated gearslutz when I tried there. And they are not friendly to cassette 4 track from what I found. Thanks for the input! So, is what Jimmy said: Not true? Or does that apply to the 6i6? In which case something else would be better, like the Tascam thing?

The best way to transfer the analog signal from my 244 to my computer

Well, it is a big deal to me, but I only have a laptop. This kind of comment makes me really paranoid, particularly as you are such a knowledgeable dude and all. My computer does have USB 3.0 though. So, in transferring 4 tracks, should any quality expect to be lost still? Does anybody know...

The best way to transfer the analog signal from my 244 to my computer

Hey, I'm trying to figure out what to get ASAP, so if anyone could tell me which would be better for transferring to computer, focusrite or tascam or whatever else, I'd really appreciate the input. How's that for a pun?

Oh, so would that Tascam thing mentioned be better? And why exactly? Thanks!

Hooking up Tascam 234 4 track to external board?

I think that exact thing happened to my MT4X ha. That's rather astute of you! So would I need some sort of RCA to 1/4 inch jack cable then? And 4 of them? Also, is there any reason to think the quality would suffer running the 234 into the MT4X mixing board and then into computer? Thank you so...

The best way to transfer the analog signal from my 244 to my computer

The Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 has 4 inputs and is only $50 more than the ones with only 2 of the same brand. $250 on Amazon. I think I'll just get that. Unless anyone on here tells me not to for some reason ha.

The best way to transfer the analog signal from my 244 to my computer

You didn't offend me friend, I understand where you were coming from. My ignorant confusion/desperation to get my sail back in the water can make me more than a little frustrating to deal with sometimes I'm pretty sure ha. I appreciate all of your patience and genuine help!

The best way to transfer the analog signal from my 244 to my computer

Hey thank you so much for the informed response. I greatly appreciate it. Yeah , I have a laptop. So would a USB interface like Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 be the best I could hope for with a laptop? Though I suppose something with 4 inputs would be better. There are Echo Layla's on ebay, but I...

The best way to transfer the analog signal from my 244 to my computer

Sorry! I didn't find anything to indicate that I had one, so I don't think that I do. Just forget that question? I think my other ones are still relevant. Sorry.

Hooking up Tascam 234 4 track to external board?

Hey friends. I am recording on a Tascam 234 4 track cassette machine. The 234 does not have an option for EQ. I think I might need it for some things. I have a Yamaha MT4X as well. Could I hook it up somehow to use the faders/eqs? If so, how? Would it detiorate the original signal, or just allow...

The best way to transfer the analog signal from my 244 to my computer

If I don't have Firewire(I'm not entirely sure what it is, but don't think I do) is there any reason why a USB connection with Layla would be superior than the connection going through the Focusrite Scarlett inputs?

The best way to transfer the analog signal from my 244 to my computer

Help Is Cood Edit Pro a good enough program? It's always worked well for my purposes, but I wonder if the EQ things on it are "cheap" sound-wise or something compared to modern programs. Though if I can I'd prefer to mix on the 4 track first if I find a mixing board. The 234 does not have one...

The best way to transfer the analog signal from my 244 to my computer

Hey Beck, I have essentially the same concern but transferring from a Tascam 234. I'm getting really confused by there being so many divergent ideas about it all! I bought a Focusrite scarlett 2i4 because I thought I needed one of these usb boxes to transfer my tapes to computer. Perhaps not? I...

    Tascam 234 Story...

Hey! I'll keep that in mind ha. I acquired a Tascam 234 recently in good working order. What a great machine! Do you find you need a mixer, or is the pan/level sufficient? I have a broken MT4X and a really really broken 144. Is it possible to use the mixing capabilities of these machines with...

Cassette 4 Track Machines - Which to get? What's your preferred 4-track and why?

Thanks a lot guys for all your thoughtful and genuine responses. Greatly appreciated. I actually ended up doing both. Got the Yamaha fixed for $100(some kind of azimuth alignment issue, it ate my tape up :( In the meantime, while thinking, I needed it, I bought a Tascam 234 on ebay. It was...

Cassette 4 Track Machines - Which to get? What's your preferred 4-track and why?

Hello friends. I started posting in another old thread, but I'll take some friendly advice and make a new one for better results. In the midst of recording an album on my Yamaha MT4X, the thing seems to have broken down. I figure life’s too short to go down some rabbit hole of trying to fix it...

    Best sounding cassette 4 Track?

Oh I see. I associated having standard microphone inputs as phantom power. One issue I've had with the MT4X is that it only has quarter inch jacks in the back, which makes recording difficult when using dynamic microphones and real equipment and such. If the recorder has full on microphone jacks...

    Best sounding cassette 4 Track?

Hello friends. In the midst of recording an album on my Yamaha MT4X, the thing seems to have broken down. I figure life’s too short to go down some rabbit hole of trying to fix it, even if it’s a simple thing, as the chance of finding anyone who can help with me personally with that are, well...
