Using AI to help speed up figuring out how to do something in your DAW

That's not really what I was asking though - was the answer it gave you on a "wall of sound" production actually helpful - i.e. - are there actionable insights in there that you wou;dn't have done otherwise? I've never played with it for recording insight, but in a few other areas the...

    RWRP middle pickup question

Hey, my expectations would be this, and the only differences would be attributable to the pickup winding itself, and no polarity and wind direction. But jimistone is adament it sounds different so I'm at least willing to hear him out.

    RWRP middle pickup question

An A/B comparison with a RWRP and a non-RWRP would be hard anyway, short of taking a single guitar and dropping in a RWRP middle wound otherwise to the same specs - 'd be curious to just hear position 2 and 4 from one of your existing guitars to see if there's anything audibly unusual about it.

    RWRP middle pickup question

I'd love to hear some clips - I honestly don't know if I've ever played a NON-RWRP middle, so I'm legitimately curious what the differences are like. For me, the in-between positions I'm currently getting with a RWRP middle are awesome enough that I'm really happy with the results I'm getting...

Using AI to help speed up figuring out how to do something in your DAW

How much of that is actually helpful, though? I think you do a better job at getting it to explain what the various parameter controls of a compressor do and while I only skimmed that none of it seems wrong, so if you don't have that kind of working knowledge of what the various compression...

Can't Get Guitar to sound right when recording

Haha thank you. Still, I can hear it - my groove especially is just gone if I'm exhausted. And there's certainly a mental component to that too, worrying about whether or not you can get in the pocket probably makes it harder to get into the pocket... lol

    HOW TO RELIEVE GAS?

Wasn't it something like Les Paul thought gold looked more sophisticated so if they were going to do a painted finish on ones where the wood grain didn't warrant a transparent finish, he thought that would be the one that would look the most expensive? I seem to recall it was something about Les...

Can't Get Guitar to sound right when recording

I do need to be better about that, to be fair, and I've noticed that "good" takes tend to come together in bunches. "Be a goldfish" and all that. Really what I need to learn, though, is the number of times I do a take, think "that was ok, but lets try again," save it, arm a new track... and 30...

    RWRP middle pickup question

Yeah, barring possibly position 2 and 4, I can't see a difference either -basically all you did, more or less, was flip the orientation of a pickup that's by design symmetrical. But I certainly would hear out arguments I'm wrong, always happy to explore ideas for science...

    NEW Guitar Project

Nice! Classic looking Strat, I'd love to hear some clips of those pickups, IU'm really happy with my current sets but I've never played Fralins...

What are my chances of getting a hit in the Billboard Hot 100?

Mine does too. I chose this: IMO, again, you're mixing metrics. Lifetime plays vs weekly listening, and no more than 30 seconds of poking around (wiikipedia to the source material) says they differentiat between free streams and subscription streams, as well...

What are my chances of getting a hit in the Billboard Hot 100?

Per week, though, right? So someone with 100,000 followers who gets 10% of their fans to download a single might hit the 98th or 97th spot, maybe (I'm trusting your stats here, and guessing), but then would presumably drop off the next week, unless they get another 10,000 people to buy? I...

    RWRP middle pickup question

i guess I'm not really sure how RWRP impact tone? I mean in theory in the neck/middle and middle/bridge positions with the pickups out of polarity, yes, there is some noise cancellation going on, but not much more than that as they're pretty far apart so your pickups are "seeing" very different...

I'll catch up soon enough! 🤣 Toontrack does decent sales now and then, it might be worth checking out if you happen to catch it on a good sale... and if not, EzDrummer is less flexible, but the same basic audio engine and a LOT easier to use. It'll save you a lot of time step-editing drum...

Using a a single Mic preamp for Stereo mix?

I think saturation tools are awesome for what they are, but you're right - use it for a specific purpose, either a sort of dirty subtle compressor or an intentional "grit" effect, but don't slap it on EVERYTHING unless you have a specific reason. Just like any other plugin, really. 😆

Using a a single Mic preamp for Stereo mix?

You'd have to knock them down to instrument level first - if your interface allowed you to swap, great, otherwise some reamping gear, maybe? But yeah, if you had like an old Neve board or something I could see maybe wanting to put some work into figuring out how to do this, but for most part...

    DREAM STRAT

How much gain do you use? Gain definitely helps, and I guess (I'm writing this without a guitar in hand) I feel like I angle the pick a little more when I'm trying to draw out some of those overtones. Not sure when I next think I'll get a few minutes with a guitar but I'll try to remember to...

    DREAM STRAT

Man, thanks everyone! I'm at the deep-into-the-weeds part of this project where I'm just getting worried nothing about this is good enough and why am I even bothering in a world where "newcomers" like Nick Johnson, Andy Wood, and Angel Vivaldi exist, and while I'm still binging my favorite Joe...

Using a a single Mic preamp for Stereo mix?

Are you looking to add a little saturation from the preamp to your mix? I suppose in theory you could take your stereo mix, split it to mono, and then run each channel through independently then recombine to stereo... but I'd want to print any VST instruments to audio first before doing this...

    DREAM STRAT

Thanks @RFR! Dude, thank you! 🤣 The drums - definitely not AI. But, also, not a real drummer. This was Superior 3 and (for now, once I finish recording the guitar parts I'll mix them from scratch from the raw samples) their Ninety-One preset (presumably "Nevermind," and Cobain was the reason I...
