    6 to a 7 string........

Well sure it is, I just figured that the neck is actually the easiest part to address....(route out the neck pocket to fit the 7 string neck.

    6 to a 7 string........

Has anyone here tried to convert an Ibanez six string into a 7 string model. I saw that a guy on Ebay did a few of them and they seemed to have turned out pretty nice. Of course he used the Ibanez models that had pickguards on the body (don't blame him). What about the anchor bolts for the...

    Boss Br-1180 Bass

Yep, definitely make sure the COSM effects are off...otherwise WOW does it boost!!!! Although combining the COSM effects with my GT-6 effects, I can get some crazy sounds which i have used recording. It is just very tough to EQ when doing that.

Do you block your floating bridge?

I never did block my trems on my RG's or KnightSwan and had pretty good luck keeping them in tune. Of course I never "Brad Gillis'ed" them either. My new S series Ibanez has a ZR trem and it does really well, even when you break a string.

Replace Kramer Pacer Imperial with what???

If you wana stay with a Kramer, I'd go with a KnightSwan. Biggest mistake I ever made was selling mine! I believe the necks are the same except for a reverse headstock. Of course there are plenty of Kramer necks for sale on Ebay too.

    Just got my 84 kramer.

I believe they are back. They have an awsome semi-hollow called the Condor. For the most part, their line-up has changed dramatically. It's Kramer but really Gibson owns them.

    Just got my 84 kramer.

If only I could get my KnightSwan back............you guys talking Kramer is bringing back the bad mojo when I sold mine. Now I gotta get on Ebay and find another "Swan"! That KnightSwan I had.....it had a bottom end that made Satan quiver!

    Technique on making solos?

I agree with elementary here......hum or sing what you would think is a good solo. Sometimes you can come up with some great stuff if you just put the guitar down! Scales are great to know, but it's easy to get into a pattern of "well I'll just throw THIS scale in here" to fill the gaps. If I...

    ibanez theory....

Hey IbanezRocks.......The S-1525(I think that is it) is a prestige model S series. The body face is bubinga, neck only has one "sqwiggly on the 12th and features the ZR trem. It is a SWEET machine to play and will be my next purchase.

    ibanez theory....

I'm a proud owner of two "saber" line Ibanez guitars. One a six string and the other a 7-string. I just fell in love with not only their playability but the workmanship as well. To me they are "great" guitars, but hey,..I felt that my Kramer KnightSwan was a "great" guitar too! Everybody is...

    What is too young?

Back when I taught lessons, my youngest student was 6 yrs old. I personally think that is too young but his mother had talked to me before-hand and mentioned to keep the lessons fun and simple until he got old enough for his fingers to be effective on the fretboard. Heck, everyone is...

    Boomers Or Slinkys

I used Boomers for many many years, but recently switched to D'Addario because of the cool color coded rings the string winds around!

    HELP NEEDED: The whammy bar

Watch any Steve Vai video and you will get a glimpse of so many things you can do with a trem. I think half his stuff, he'll utilize it in some way, shape, or form. Another persons videos would be anything by Brad Gillis. He is another who has mastered using the "whammy bar". Brad not only...

musicman.....Since you have an SA series why go through all that trouble of putting a floater on that when you can sell the SA and buy an S series Ibanez with a regular floating trem or a ZR trem?? A new Floyd will cost ya about 150 depending on the finish you want. Add the routing and...

    Guitar Picks

I've used metal picks (they spell death to your strings faster!) And for about 5 years I played with a pick made from marble. It was thicker and heavier. But it really improved my speed. Downfall to the marble pick is the noise it makes as it's striking the string. I quit playing with them...

Ran into Eric Johnson and later saw Monte Montgomery!!

Wow. I only wish I could meet EJ. That's a cool story man.......I have a bunch of videos of EJ playing at various blues festivals. Each one he completely blows away the other guys playing such as Buddy Guy, BB, etc. Back in 1988 I met and talked with Satriani but that is my only brush with...
