I wouldn't call the band amateur or pro. I'd say, we have good connections.
It's a NYC guy, he's worked with The Roots, Alkaline Trio, Anberlin.
There was another dude from up there who was on the project at first who had to bail to work on a score for a film. In the end we kind of ended...
I normally use 2 room mics.
one 5-8 feet infront of the kit normally a ribbon. at about the height of the top of the kick drum
then I do a room mic about 20 feet away
I normally crush the ribbon hard with compression, and the distant room mic, I'll send to a reverb send
Hello my band "Atlas" is recording our debut in a large format studio.
Due to our budget we had two options.
Record the hole album in the studio with no producer or bring a producer in and record some things on our own.
We decided to record the following at the studio with the engineer and...
It depends on the year and the model. They started off at EL 34s then went to 5881's which is a 6l6.
The 800's were all EL34s
I believe some of the older guys had 7027A's
regardless I pulled two tubes and still does the same thing. I'm thinking opamp or transformer.
more leaning towards...
amp
I own some great guitars and some cheaper guitars.
if I'm playing through my deville i doubt anyone can tell the difference between my mex tele and my american.
Do whatever sounds right to you.
Lately I've been using this mic setup with great results
MD421 inside kick near beater point to the shell
D112 inside of the sound hole of the bass drum
KCM 81 Ribbon right outside of bass drum
Audix sm Diaphram condensers as overheads
Blue Stage 1 rocket mono...
as I stated earlier it does it with all 3 models of AX tubes. actually because I tried and ay too.
also this should only be for input gain. my 15 watt vox that runs a 12ax7 and a 12ay7 should not be louder regardless of the coifencient of 3db+ in output volume per watts doubled
I tried all three ax7 at7 au7 same results
I've always used au7 in my phase invertors in all my amps
I've generally noticed cleaner clean less break up at high volumes
shinnier highs
Save your money. If you're going to cheap to go loud...It's not worth it in the long run. In 6 months you'll be buying some sort of tubed monster.
Hell you can get a used 4x10 Deville for under $500 on craigslist any day of the week.
If you're looking for cheap/quality.
Go Carvin.
I am good with an iron and I know electronics but I am not too good with amps.
I have re-tubed and biased a few however I am don't feel confident trouble shooting this guy.
In the past I have used this amp live. Though lately I've been using a 4x10 deville hooked up to a 4x12 cab.
However I...
Within the past 8 months I had my JCM 900 heavely serviced. New Power Tubes JJ Tesla 6l6, New Pre amps, Groove Tube Gold 12ax7 in V1 and V2 and Groove Tube gold 12au7 in V3
Also had the filter caps replaced with JJ Tesla 50/50 500v
I also had all the pots cleaned, and a few items in the...
the bench test show you can almost double native what an hd3 system 3 can do with dverb 1 it's slightly less with dverb 2
i am comparing HD3 to LE version 8 cs3
this is getting good!!!!!
i said it will not run at 1333Mhz unless it is in pairs of 3
I also stated e550x over i7 more often then not. anything dell precision and above that is intel based is an E chip not an I
the iMac does not have this chip plan and simple.
so it's not apples to apples...
I'm also talking about
RAM Speed
the use of DDR 3
true Multi-threaded applications
scalability
cost
repair time.
no matter how you slice the cake, pro-tools 8 does not support 64 bit.
however if i was gonna run a 64 bit mac, i'd run vmware fusion and use unity mode to run pt in windows...
