Do you really buy that expensive recording software?

Fly Ralphie! Fly! Yup. you are right. I also envy you. I just hope that I some day can destroy threads as efficient as you. You clearly have more intelectual insight than us others. In fact, maybe you are just a bit too intelligent for this forum? Its clear that no one in here has the...

Do you really buy that expensive recording software?

Pacman.. You should read some Nietzsche. (and if you have, I believe you skipped some lines...) But first you should experience that you are not more unique than others. I would also add that if you plan on succeding as a left wing revolutionist you'd be better of posting your plans elsewhere...

Do you really buy that expensive recording software?

Free 64studio is a free and working DAW platform!/ DAW programs exist for free, in an enviroment where the user can directly communicate with the creators, and participate in the development at any level. This April, Ubuntustudio will be on the free market, and I believe that this is a...

Nice try, you stinkin' lying sob(s)!

The only decade where digital came to its right usage was the 80s I think. Ever since, digital has just tried harder and harder to sound like reel sound. This proves it. What they say is: "Now we have programs that gives your sound the beautiful spark of life we told you was just shit some...

Nice try, you stinkin' lying sob(s)!

LOL! You got it just right Dr. Zee. Theese things make me kinda ill. Whats the point in adjusting speed, bias and such on a plugin? Can anyone tell me? I mean.. this thing also probably cost more than a decent threehead... People buy anything theese days if its labeled "features", and is said...

    Tube Recorders et al

The same goes for Tandberg TB2. (And their other models with the "magic eye"). People around here (Norway) use the preamp in them to "warm up" guitars etc. The sound of the preamp is marvellous, but I dont know about the recorder itself. Never heard anything recorded on one.

    magnetism and "safe zones"

Maybe that technique would keep bad recordings away? :D

    magnetism and "safe zones"

Thanks Beck, for moving the thread back into topic, and rounding it off in such a convincing way. Ill have no troubles keeping my tapes a long way from speakers, but the my CRT monitor worries me. Do they have a magnetic field when turned off? I thought that the magnet in CRTs was the...

    magnetism and "safe zones"

Respects indeed. And thanks, to everyone who has replied. Ive learned a lot here. Guess Ill try the thing with the compass, and see how strong the magnetical field around my speakers are. Ill also check what magnetism will do with a recorded signal. Guess that is the only real way to learn, by...

    magnetism and "safe zones"

More questions. Thanks to everybody who has answered me before :) Im in the process of building a control room. In it, I plan to place my Fostex r8, as well as a PC (In a "soundproof" closet). My question regards magnetism: How far away from my speakers should the R8 be placed for it to be...

    I need a "new" mixer...

Hi Fred! Falken has a good point here. I do believe most Mackie mixers has inserts. This way you could hook a insert cable up (stereo jack to 2xRCA) and tap the signal after the preamp and EQ-section. THe beauty is when you hook the outout from your recorder on to the same cable, and gets the...

    Maxell Tape

Hi Beck! Perhaps 220 is a european or scandinavian version of the 228/229? It sounds swell in my ears. Guess Ill keep it around until I get a decent 3 head deck. As for the Maxell, I totally missed out on it. I wont hesitate the next time! And Dr. Zee: I checked out some shops here in Norway...

    Maxell Tape

I see. This one is not backcoated, and not sticky as I can tell. Im no expert, and has no experience on it, but after what Ive been reading on this forum, this tape shows no signs of it. My guess is that Scotch 220 is a standard Long Play Hifi tape. I like the sound of it tho. Its quite crispy...

    Maxell Tape

:) Thanx Beck! Ill check both out then, if only to learn from it. :) What about the Scotch 220? Have you any experience with it?

    Maxell Tape

Indeed it is! And especially in the head of a poor n00b trying to figure his ways through the technology of his parents. (Im 26 and already I cant stand some digital recordings. Bet Ill die while trying to wind my 78-player, lol) As for the European situation of tape, you have inspired me to do...

    Maxell Tape

How many roads must a man walk down lol! I guess overseas was going a bit too far. Thank you for pointing it out ;) I think Ill buy just a few reels of the Maxell tape and rather save my money for fresh, clean tape. Im interrested in testing it anyways, if not just to hear for myself if the...
