    Ubuntu and Eidrol DA2496

I thought jack was the routing ans ALSA was the "driver" :S Im kinda new to Linux myself, so I have no answer. I do have a link for you: http://www.linux-sound.org/ (In case you havent been there already :) )

    Ubuntu and Eidrol DA2496

Alsa Ubuntustudio will probably use ALSA (Advanced Linux Sound Architecture). I believe that this is different from the sound "drivers" in regular Ubuntu. You can find out more about ALSA at: http://www.alsa-project.org A matrix for card support is found here...

How powerful does my PC have to be??

I couldnt agree more! With my first DAW I frequently recorded 4 tracks in Cubase SX1 with a 500Mhz, 380Mb RAM, running the EMU APS interface. In theory, this is also possible with a Soundblaster Live. Dont believe the people who says that nothing is possible with lower specs. They are just...

    A couple M 80 questions

Good point. OR it could be Fostex planning to sell lots of new heads for them, or just guessed that everyone who bought an R8 would go digital before the heads wore out due to tape winding in play mode

Bad cable? I had this issue with a friends RME Fireface, and a new Firewire Cable solved it all. :)

    A couple M 80 questions

Any ideas on how to include such a feature on a R8? I.e. which materials are "safe" for tape to travel over? Just an idea :)

    Tandberg 10X

About 500 USD for a machine that has been used and serviced by the Norwegian TV and Radio Station (NRK). Not cheap, but the heads are new, and the techs have been working on theese machines since they was purchased. A TB20 goes 50-100 USD cheaper, depending on its condition and the knowledge of...

No problemo! Feel free to ask :) They should work flawless in Sonar, and as jp said, the XLR inputs can be tuned to accept instrument level via the onboard jumpers. Thanks again jp! Forgot about that. Also remember to turn of the Monitor Mixer in your Delta control Panel if you plan to monitor...

According to the www.nrhf.no the fourth head is a premagnetizer. They list the haeads as such: Heads - 4 (erase, record, playback, premagnetize) One should think that the premagnetizer is the head after the eraser.. Ill bet someone has more knowledge of this function. And yes.. The larger...

No, alas. A friend had a 9000x, which broke down. They have always been around me tho, so I have had the oppurtunity to hear several models. I am currently looking for a TB20, but I havent found anyone with a reasonable price yet. I found a really nice deal on a Studer B67, and this one is...

    Audio Popping

Hi jp! Thanks for replying! I believe that I can hear some difference in the highs, but as I said it can be the ears fooling me. Ive also read somewhere that a young person more easily can hear the difference, but that no one who has spent some hours in front of a drumkit and a active drummer...

Agreed. Buffer overload often leads to pops. 96Khz uses very much of your processing power compared to 44.1, and if you dont have intentions to release a dvd of your music, I would say that its space wasted. Especially if you are only recording demo material. Personally I use 96Khz for...

Congrats! The Tandbergs are wonderful! Ill dig up some resources and post them in a while. There are at least one shop that sells used and new parts for theese recorders, as there is a large community for them here in Norway (and Denmark and Sweden I guess). The tandbergs are Norwegian, and a...

In cubase one has the option to create either Stereo or Mono Buses from the inputs. Altho versatile, I personally never use stereo tracks. Someone told me that Cakewalk has a lot more sensible approach, and so it seems. Thanks for filling out :)

You have to buy a multicable that fits your needs. As example, if your mixer has inserts for each track, youll need a Jack-RCA multicable. Be aware that when you tap the channel in this way, the signa is routed away from the mixer and directly into the other end of the cable, only beeing...

Yes, those details should do it. Heres how the ins and outs work: (Forgive me if Im trying to explain things you are already aware of :)) The 6 grey RCA-cables on the large cable is inputs. The 2 grey XLRs are mic inputs. The 8 black RCAs are outputs. The Grey RCA on the small cable is...

    is there a way

Yes there is indeed, if your recording software supports it. I have recorded drumkits on a 1010lt several times. Should work like a charm! What program are you using? Which OS, which preamps/mixer etc..? Details helps :)
