Heres a sample of an acoustic song i recorded... how does it sound?
Game Over
http://www.freewebs.com/handwritten/123.mp3
...i am a fan of reverb, so you might say its too reverby, but i kinda like it.. live-ish feel.
yeah the line 6 can go in direct, but it sounds like crap.
I am using a shure sm57 directly, in different micing positions, thru a dmp3 mic pre... and in to my m-audio 1010.
I have the amp isolated, so there isnt any reverb.
Idk, the sound i get is terrible. Is it the amps, the mics, the...
hey, i was wondering when u record guitar, do u mic the amp or the cab? or both? ... cuz i have a shitty line 6 spider amp, and whenever i record it, it sounds like crap. So, would a cab/new amp be of best interest? thanks.
Okay, heres a sample from the v-amp... and an actual guitar player is playing this time :) ... any comments on the sound? too much distortion?
http://www.freewebs.com/handwritten/sampleguitar.mp3
what im looking for is a clean-distortion/punchy guitar.
thank you soo much for reading this...
well i have both a peavey transtube and a line 6 spider... which one would u suggest using?
i also have a v-amp 2... and im thinking about using that instead... good idea?
ACtUALLY i just realized the amp is a line 6 spider! sorry
hey everyone! listen, im a drummer... i just learned three chords off the web... and then i tried to play them... i suck at the gutiar!!
as for mic placeement... i have the sm57 pointed off center of the speaker about 3 inches away
Okay, as far as i have read, the guitar sound is pretty much comprised of the players ability, the guitar, the amp, eqing, ridiculously expensive equipment, and mic placement...
and i realize that
but i really want that full/thick/not so distortiony, but still rockish guitar type... confused...
Hey everybody,
well, before reading this, realize that i am a drummer, and not all a guitar player, nor should i ever be let near a guitar, because i suck. However, im trying to get a good tone for a punk rock guitar... and i have no idea what it should sound like...
So any suggestions on this...
Im recording a rock/punk band, and i always wanted to know, do u add reverb to the guitar at all? Ok, im feeling like this is the dumbest question in the world... but on like the riffs and just like powerchord strumming, do you add reverb to that?
thanks alot!
Hey, yeah youre defintely right. I was playing like ALL rolls lol. When i was done recording, i was like, crap its all rolls, no quarter notes! I gotta record tommorow playing a steady beat with the whole set, and see if i can get a nice sound. thanks everyone!!!
Hey, thanks for listening to it...
im going to be recroding a rock/punk album...
Maybe, im being too critical, but doesnt it sound a little dull? Like, it needs some air/ high end? maybe im crazy, but it sounds a little too .. dull!
not much done to it except a lil eq and reverb
i dont have a...
Hey, I was wondering how my snare drum sounds?
On my speakers at home it sounds nice, but any input to what would make it sound better would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

yeah, and if that link doesnt work, just copy it into your adress bar and...
hey thanks for the quick replies...
But now i wanna know what y2jeriko was asking...
If you dont notice the pre-amp, what makes some better than others?
Annnddd... so the general consensus would be to record via the DMP3 and an amp, rather than a v-amp?
I recently bought a DMP-3 preamp, because it has gotten such rave reviews. I heard that pre-amps make a signal seem more transparent, and less distorted, when they are a good pre-amp. I was wondering if this is true? I record my guitar direct through a v-amp2, and i was wondering if the pre-amp...
Would it make any sense to record a guitar thru a v-amp2, and then have the single go thru a dmp3 mic pre? Would the dmp3 make the guitar sound any better, or it would do absolutely nothing besides boosting the signal?
Or likewise, would it make sense to run the guitar thru the mic pre, then to...
thanks everyone for your info...
i finally decided on the the maudio dmp3... from all of the reviews, it looks pretty reliable, and in my cost range!
thanks for all the help!
