    Monkeys in the Playground

My apologies ... didn't preview the dang link! Finally figured out how to use a gate on the master ... probably shouldn't have to, but I'm operating on a budget, too much cost incurred buying monkey food. BTW, I shook Justin Trudeau's hand on Friday - only 3 more in this song to shake hands...

Okay, thanks for that. Two hours later and I've reposted a mix, thanks to all who have the time and energy. Timbo https://soundcloud.com/yellowdwarfband/monkeys-in-the-playground

    Monkeys in the Playground

I'm not sure, I get this from time to time. Can it be that when I track, the volume is quite low and during the process of home mastering, I bring up low volume noise to where it's audible? Are you hearing it throughout, or is it masked while the song is playing? Timbo

    Monkeys in the Playground

Hi guys, I have a track to test out where I know there's sibilance on the vocal, but spitfish isn't catching it. Plus I've got some hiss at the beginning and end, and obviously throughout and I don't know how to get rid of that either. This is a fun little political tune that resulted from...

    The Good From The Bad

I like this! To me, there's one or two offending frequencies in the vocal that makes them sound "scratchy", sorry I don't have the proper words for it, nor do I have the ears to tell you where it lies on the spectrum. I could hear it with the rhythm guitar brought back a db or 2, same for the...

    Stoned at a campfire

Pretty song, I really like the way you grew it, nicely arranged. I can hear lyrics and melody in my head. Agree with Mike, I like the guitar sound, but it needs just a tiny fix to sit better. Drums sit nicely, too. Nice return at the end. Well done, wish I could play half as well! Timbo

Sonar X3 Lexicon Plugins ok on WIN10

I had trouble initially, not with the DAW side of things, but Microshaft finally fixed up all of my problems. I'm in good shape now, but am sad with how they have completely dumbed (as an ex-network admin and coder and ...) down the OS ...

updating and upgrading system for SONAR 5 PRODUCER EDITION

I agree with Pinky, if you own Sonar 5 there's a pretty cheap upgrade path to the newer sonar.

Sonar X3 Lexicon Plugins ok on WIN10

If you want it gone, Google Windows 10 uninstall, you should be able to revert for the first month or so.

Ah, I finally get it. Thanks Robus, sometimes you forget the lessons of years ago and don't rip the mix apart and start from scratch, which is the next step! I think there's a phaser on the sax, which may be the metallic sound ... Thanks for that! Timbo

    Appreciate your ears

Thanks again to everyone who chimed in. I've spent a couple of hours remixing: I took the suggestion to take the verb off the drums during the song, which of course, required rebalancing of every single instrument ... Hopefully a little more of a likeable mix this time...

Thanks again, everyone. I'm going to try to envelope the verb and see what I get. Thanks!

You got that right on the nail, Ingo! I intentionally brought the vocals up on this mix, as I've been hiding my voice in the past. I thought this song/mix demanded a forward vocal. Thanks for the suggestions! Timbo

    Appreciate your ears

Thanks Mike, for the listen, exactly what I was hoping for: I didn't think that I should take the verb off the drums that was on at the intro and outro - I'll have a listen to it, but it's going to take a full remix I think of the rest of the song. I wasn't going for much lo-fi on the song...

    Appreciate your ears

Hopefully I've done enough review to deserve your time. I've been listening way too much to Bowie's Blackstar and it's changed my music, not production and I think it is amazing. I've been listening to Bowie since 73, so that's a long time. His newer stuff (last 2 albums) sounded very...

    Snowflake

Hi Valentino, Sweet tune! From a sound perspective, it's fine. The snare is a bit cliche, but we all started like that. I liked the movement, the way you took the song from A to B (not musical notes!). I could see bits of this song being in a commercial. You created a bit of tension, I imagine...
