how to 'play' a synth in Reason?

ugh.. I've been brainwashed by the simplicity of newer controllers... I've thought it out more so let me clairfy a little... if its just a controller with no USB interface built in, you need a driver for the interface that hooks up to your computer. (you plug the keyboard into the interface, you...

how to 'play' a synth in Reason?

yeah, even my strait to USB midiman Radium keyboard controller needed drivers... windows detected it, but it asked for a driver disk(which was on the CD-ROM that came with the keyboard). If you don't have drivers check the manufacturers website. Almost all manufacutreres have their drivers...

    Unbalanced inputs on Delta 1010LT

do you guys think having the three feet of unbalanced cable on the Delta1010LT will really make that huge of a difference? I mean, it will be balanced up until the mic pre... I'm debating going with the 1010LT or the 1010 will balanced inputs. But if its not gonna make a huge difference I'll...

how to 'play' a synth in Reason?

I've never used reason 1.0, but I have used 2.0 and I'm currently using 2.5. To get reason to acknowlege your keyboard, in the edit menu, slect preferecnes. Flip to the "MIDI" page and in the pull down "Port" menu, your keyboard should be shown and all you have to do is select it (that is if the...

    reload 1960A with vintage 30s??

Thanks for the advice... I really liked the guitar sound we accomplished that recording session... Nothings wrong with it. Heres the problem: I don't own the cab it was recorded with, and when we tried recording with my marshall cab, it sounded like crap. Yes, I do believe we used a 57 on it...

    Newest Darth Mix....CRANKIT!!!!!!!

are you using auto-tune on those vocals? If not, this might just be a freak thing. On the line "late at night I reminise - and wonder if I'll ever kiss" the word kiss sounds kinda unnatural (It snaps it to that note a little too hard). Other than that it sounds absolutely amazing.

    does it sound commercial rock?

I really like the song. My biggest beef was the duh duh/duh duh on the high strings of the acoustic guitar at the very beginning. It gets a little annoying cause its kinda loud. If I were you I'd shop this song to some publishers.. its a good demo and a good vocal part by the right person could...

    reload 1960A with vintage 30s??

hey all... I'm considering swapping the 75 watt celestions out of my Marshall 1960A cab for a set of vintage 30s. When my band was recording, we tried getting a good sound out of my amp/cab to tape (Marshall JCM800 100 watt non master volume). No matter what we did it lacked balls. So we...

How Do You Record/Reproduce Good Reggae Bass Sound?

in my recording tech lab, a raggae band consisting of three old rich white guys came in to record. Their bass player was using one of those really nice eernie ball basses. It was NOT fit for raggae at all... way too bright. When we were mixing we compressed the bass and EQ'd out the some of the...

Warming up a voice before recording

I beg to differ... the only reason I can stay on key is because I'm always singing in the car.

    mic into a pedal???

Experiment! you probably aren't gonna break anything... Like I said, if you wanna be experimental and artsy you can do whatever you want. With that DI thing... if it IS possible to run a signal through a DI backwards (I have my doubts), the only way it would be effective is if you had 2 DIs...

    Look at this on ebay!!

I took a quick glance at it... is it just a midi studio or something? If its so professional wheres the live room and iso booths?

    mic into a pedal???

Well, lets get the signal levels down first (from weakest to strongest) 1. Mic (LowZ) 2. Instrument (HiZ) 3. Line 4. Speaker You want send a LowZ mic level signal through a processor that is designed to handle HiZ instrument level signals. Then send a wet instrument level signal to an input on...

    Noisy amp

Instrument cables are unbalanced, so basically, they are long antannae. This is just the nature of unbalanced cables. First thing you should do shorten your cable as much as possible. If youre using a 20 foot cable into your effects, and another 20 feet going from the effects to the amp, you...

Pop rock from a pop who rocks

yeah sounds like one of your strings is outta tune... a little digital clipping during that keyboard solo too. Vocals on the last quarter of the performance are superior to the rest. Just work to get that perfect vocal performance. I don't know what system you're using to record this, but what...

    Metalish Demo...

I gave the song a quick run though... first thing I noticed, as jacen said, the cymbals are a bit bright... as is snare. In my opinion, the reverb on the snare is a bit excessive. Nu metal (or even hard rock) snares seem to be a little more "in your face." (although I don't know if thats what...
