    MOTU 828 and PC Software

I just recently bought a MOTU 828 and have been running it with a lot of demo software on my PC. I'm not that interested in MIDI but I'm sure I'll have use for it in the future. I'm having a hard time deciding between Sonar, Vegas, and Cubase. I just wanted other people's input on this...

    Laptop PCI adaptor

I found some. Just so other people can know they are made by a company called magma and run in the $800-$1000 range. Firewire seems to be much more cost effective.

    Laptop PCI adaptor

I've heard that you can get a PCI card adaptor/case for laptops so you could use a regular sized desktop PCI card. I've also heard that they were very expensive. Does anybody know who makes these? I couldn't find them on a google search. -Jamie

    Firewire/MOTU 828

I'm wondering just how good firewire is? I've got a pentium 800 laptop and a mackie 1604 vlz pro mixer. I was thinking about getting the MOTU 828 and possibly a firewire hard drive. I'm mainly interested in recording small rock groups. I thought this would be cool because I can use the 828...

Common to use standalone CDR to produce your music ???-Pls help

You might already know this but I believe the main thing that most stand alone CD-Rs are good for is that you can burn to disk in "real time". This means that if you are mixing down to the CD-R through a mixer you can apply effects and change levels as you go. Most PC CD-Rs do not burn in...

    AKG C1000B to 3000B

I was just wondering what the differences were between the AKG 1000B, 2000B, and 3000B (besides the price). I've heard they are pretty good and needed a good microphone for studio vox and other rock band applications besides my sure SM 57s. I was wondering what people's opinions were on the...

New Aardvark Q10 or a mixer and delta 10/10

Does anybody know how good the preamps are on the new Aardvark Direct pro Q10? I am contemplating whether to get that with cakewalk or a Mackie 1604 VLZ pro and a delta 10/10. My price range is $1,000-2,000. I have a Pentium III 500 computer running windows 98 with 192 Mb of SDRAM. I would...

    Motu 1296

Does anybody know about the MOTU 1296? I'm wondering whether the preamps are going to be quality enough without a mixer. I sure would like to get somthing with 12 inputs but I can't afford a 1296 and a mixer.

    inputs

I was just wondering if there is any benefit to having all XLR inputs when you are recording using mostly mics or if TRS inputs (using XLR to TRS 1/4 inch jacks) were just as good.

    TRS or XLR?

Hi I'm in the market for a PC computer recording interface. I've been looking at the Delta 10/10, Digi 001, and MOTU 1296. I am mostly interested in recording bands. I have a few sure SM 57 and 58s and an audio technica drum kit pack for mics. Is there any benefit to all XLR inputs like the...
