I had an ec-1000 with jb/59 duncans in it and it sounded great. It was often picked over the Gibson LP Studio during the recording process. Never had a tuning problem nor did anyone complain about the neck.

My vote would be the Fender. The Vox Valvetronics amps arent terrible by any means but they just dont have that tube goodness. I will say though, Im a huge fan of the AC stuff from Vox.

Pull the fuses and make sure none are blown. Same thing happened to my Randall tube amp once and all it was, was a fuse.

If it hasn't been mentioned yet, Peavey has a line of small amps out now that have built in attenuators, I think the little Satriani jobber has one, I know the Windsor does as well.

Well I have a studio for other bands and I don't even play guitar. So basically I'd be adding another flavor to my arsenal for pretty cheap. I don't see how it would hurt to have something like this in my amp collection.

Well you can basically bypass their interfaces. I mean if I had a high quality 8 channel converter with all my own pre's patched into it I'm basically circumventing the interface. I mean yeah you have to own it but you don't have to have the sound of it.

Also check to make sure your monitors and properly placed. I pan two tracks left and right all the time and can certainly hear the difference between doing that and leaving it center panned.

There's a thread about this over on that other board and it appears the v69 in question was a very short run that had a bunch of problems. The guy over there contacted mxl and they gave him several options.
