    i want a new head

This one here I have not played, but I have heard a lot of great things about, and you can get it new for less then the line 6. It's Steve Vai's signature series amp. https://www.carvinguitars.com/products/single.php?product=VL100 I owned a Carvin MTS 3200 at one point and it sounded really...

Why am I not wild about Mesa-Boogie?

And for the record, Boogie is just pointing out something that is essentially a problem on most amps, especially Marshalls, the ones that actually have gain that is. My amp is quiet even with the treble and gain cranked, or atleast as high as I would ever put them. Only time it feeds back is...

Why am I not wild about Mesa-Boogie?

I own a roadking and it says the same thing in my manual. It is also the best sounding amp I have ever heard and it kills every Marshall I have ever heard! Not just beats, destroys!

    i want a new head

I have long considered one of these for my backup http://cgi.ebay.com/Peavey-6505-Plus-LIKE-NEW-ONLY-7-MONTHS-OLD_W0QQitemZ300246442409QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item300246442409&_trkparms=72%3A552%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14.l1318 New they are around 1000, which isn't much...

    schecter or esp

Here is my number 1, plus a gratuitous Mesa shot ;-) ESP all the freaking way. I have had that guitar around 18 years. It will always be my number 1. For blues, flip the selector to the neck pickup and you'll get a classic single coil sound. Plays killer.

Thougts on the PRS SE series?

Thanks for the replies. I have looked at the Carvins as well, and they look real nice. I have only played one Carvin before. Back in the 80's a friend of mine had one. I remember it was amazing. Myself, I have owned a Carvin MTS 3200 amp before, and it was real nice. So I definately have...

Thougts on the PRS SE series?

Thanks for the detailed feedback. I'm running into a Mesa Roadking, and would probably prefer the hot pickups. The one I have my eye on is the SE Single Cut. In the meantime, I do have issues with the nut binding the string on my Les Paul. Do you have a link to that stuff you put on the nut...

    i want a new head

I sat in guitar center a few weeks back and messed with the combo version of that particular amp. I was really curios about the tube Line 6 For me, I couldn't find the tone I was looking for. You play punk so obviously your taste will be different then mine. I'll admit, I'm not a big fan of...

Thougts on the PRS SE series?

Anyone here ever try the SE series PRS guitars? Just trying to get some opinions on these guitars. Basically I am looking for a decent secondary guitar. Not looking for a collectors item. Just something that plays nice, sounds great and freaking stays in tune. Preferably NO tremolo I have an...

Dumb question regarding cabs and power rating

I recently got a great deal on a mesa widebody 1x12 cabinet. It has an MC 90 in it rated at 90 watts. My amp, I can setup in 50, 100, or 135 watt mode. Problem is I feel I get the best tone in 135 watt mode. This uses 4 6L6's abd 2 EL34's (The manual says this is 135 watts, I would have...

    Interesting solos without speed

I recommend listening to some Boston. Tom Shultz has some great melodies in his solos. One of my favorite solos of his is in the bridge of "man I'll never be".

Mesa Boogie Dual Recto Tone Test

By the way, what were you using for drums?

Mesa Boogie Dual Recto Tone Test

I like the tone. But I would definately be curious to hear what it sounds like with the overdrive removed though. The reason is this. You are certianly not the only one who uses a boost on dual rectos. They are quite popular in fact, especially the Maxon. But for me (and this is strictly my...

    tone help

Mesa's are known for taking time to tweak as the controls just behave and react differently then most amps. It's hard to explain. Suffice to say there can be a big difference in tone between 11:30 and 12:00 on any of the nobs. A few months back I had saved up enough money to get a new amp and...

    tone help

http://forum.grailtone.com/ I know the name doesn't look it, but it is strictly a Mesa site. Again, you might want to have a tech check it out. I was really shocked when I plugged into the Road King 2 at Guitar Center. It sounded really bad. But it wasn't lacking any volume, so someone may...

    tone help

You might want to try "the boogie board". You can google it. It's dedicated to Mesa owners. I'm not all that familier with that amp but I have heard sound clips and it sounded very good. There very well may be something wrong with your amp. Today I went to guitar center and was stoked the...

anyone here using a tube randall

I am in the market for a second more portable practice amp. My main amp is a Mesa Roadking (version 1), and I love it. But I have the 212 combo which weighs over 100 pounds. I mic it and record with it. Sounds sweet. But when I want to go to jam with a band, moving it is not practical. So I...
