Recommend vocal mic in $500 range

Is that a typo? :p If that's the case, then you should definitely sell yours since you've already got a 58, which is also the same. Ask Harvey how much difference the grill and physical shape of the mic makes in the sound, or do a vocal comaprison yourself with your 58 and SM7.

Recommend vocal mic in $500 range

Not to mention the Bass rolloff and presence boost controls on the SM7. It will pretty much make anybody sound like Barry White. The 57 and the 7 share the same dynamic element, but in this case the design of the mic makes a huge difference in how it behaves.

Recommend vocal mic in $500 range

I think too often we jump on the condenser mic bandwagon. One of the most valuable things I learned here was to always have a high quality dynamic mic around. Two things you'll find in every pro studio in the world are the SM7 and the RE 20. This is not to dismiss any of the other choices...

I don't like the sound of my Fender American Telecaster!!!!!!!

No matter what you do to the guitar, it may never work with your Marshall in the way that your SG does. It's like anything else in life, some combinations don't work well together. IMO, you should spend the money on this...

Recommend vocal mic in $500 range

Shure SM7 or EV RE20 should do nicely. Both are world class dynamic mics and well within your budget.

I don't like the sound of my Fender American Telecaster!!!!!!!

Save the money you would spend modifying the Tele and go buy a small tube combo. You'll be amazed.

What's that mic Dylan was using?

Here's a photo, if it helps anyone ID the mic.

    I think I want a Gretsch

It might be if it was not true. I got my Gretsch from Joel for a lot less than I could find locally. I wouldn't hesitate to do business with him again.

Have you seen these? http://www.phantomguitars.com/ A store here in KC carries them. Nice instruments, and priced pretty attractively.

    What is it?

Good enough. I knew there was reason I read all those Musican's Friend Catalogs in the 80's and 90's.
