What eats up a lot of your DAW RAM?

What in your recording/mixing etc. process is the most carnivorous bit? And how much RAM do you really use? (Get that Resource Monitor going......)

    About this Kingston RAM:

Thanks. I saw that, but figured that since the sizes on either side matched, the one I want would as well, but I will check with the assembler-tech person. Actually, Google is my enemy; yahoo is my friend.

    Cloning & backup

The search function didn't yield anything for my search, so: I hate to admit it, but I have never backed up much. I have done a bit, but only for particular files and/or programmes. I now have music and other files which keep me awake at night - thinking about losing them. So, I need some...

    How is TRACKTION these days?

I use Studio One, but the concept of Tracktion has always appealed to me, despite it lacking a console-view mixer. It used to be fairly buggy, as I understand. Does anyone here have an understanding of how the current versions are doing? Thanks.

1/4" TRS to home stereo speakers

There seems to be another small problem: the inputs on the receiver http://tinyurl.com/ldrgcul certainly are not labelled "AUDIO INTERFACE." Does it matter which of the available input plugs I use? Thanks again.

    The first "upgrade" mic

Fate has intervened. as often happens, I went to the music store and they are putting the Rode NT1-A (with shockmount and accessories kit) on sale for $210 Canadian. At that price, I took one and ran. Thanks for the help.

    The first "upgrade" mic

Nobbsy, I must apologize: I'm not actually in Centreville. I invented it. I used "Centreville" as a way of say Beaver Cleaver City or Every Town, or something like that. I'm actually in Hamilton, west of that pernicious den of iniquity, Toronto. I don't want to hijack my own thread, but...

    The first "upgrade" mic

Voice, soft jazz to moderate blues. Electric guitar into an amp and mic is also a consideration, but not a large factor in the equation. That is: the purpose is vocals, and if it works well in front of a guitar amp, that is s pleasant bonus.

1/4" TRS to home stereo speakers

Huh................... It turns out that a local electronics supply shop has an adaptor which goes over the TRS end, and is an RCA end, for $2 each. Somebody else has a TRS-to-RCA cable for $8 each. Gee, if I have to buy two audio patch cables...... that will make the $2 adaptors more...

1/4" TRS to home stereo speakers

Thanks again. I don't care much if I happen to blow up the amp or speakers, it's the other end, the 44VSL which I would be concerned about.
