Well, I'm back for the moment.
I just finished watching the video of them recording the drums for SD 2.0 and I realize now just how great they are. I am planning to get New York Legacy Part 2 for the Allaire Studios stuff. I can't imagine why a person would NOT use the built in mixer with the...
I'm setting up a scratch pad studio with the Eleven Rack and EZ drummer on a small notebook.
If I can get it working I will post up some characteristic tones.
I agree, amp in the room can't be modeled because real amps push air and make your knees buckle.
What you end up getting with a first rate modeler is what a well recorded version of the original amp sounds like through monitor speakers.
And yes, the good modelers have impedance matching inputs...
I use an Axe FX II in my home studio, and it does an excellent job of emulating a large variety of amps and effects.
I also own an Eleven Rack, and it does a fantastic job of rocking through the headphones when I am sitting around on the couch at night.
These are both hardware solutions, and...
This thread was a good read, but the bit about loud rock guitar being holy hit the nail on the head.
Good job, Greg, that pretty much says it all. :thumbs up:
It was a great answer. I am so overwhelmed by drug programming that I suffer from paralysis. It doesn't help that I have collected and now own basically every popular drum VST that exists. I can barely seem to figure out how to get started, and I am faced with too many options. I can totally see...

This is about where I am at with drum programming. May I ask: For the purposes of quality home recording, how detailed do you get when you import drum loops? Is it normal to get all detailed, split all the drums into separate tracks like real mic'd drums would be and then EQ...
I'll add a vote for Reaper, it has full functionality plus lots of effects / etc.
I downloaded it with the purpose of using it as a notepad to lay down guitar ideas while I'm sitting around my iving room.
I've only given it a cursory once over but it is also a lot easier to get going on than...
That's beautiful Bob, interesting point about throwaway recordings.
I've been getting my studio together lately as well, it is as together as it has ever been.
I'm even spending some time in it!
I back up all of my files at carbonite.com; too much to lose...
An external HD in a recording scenario adds the benefit of a second mechanical read/write head, so your computer can effectively be doing two things at once (such as loading software into memory via your C: drive while...
Well, I was looking for software that I could use as a notepad for recording guitar ideas while I'm sitting around on the couch. It ended up being Reaper. In addition to being full featured and easy to use, it has some great guitar effects. The others I tried (Audacity, Wavosaur) seemed to be...
