    Silent Nightmusic

Recording of Silent Night. I'm hoping to get some more real string players to get rid of the "overdubbed" sound. https://soundcloud.com/dtkempers/silent-nightmusic

Getting a deep voice heard live when the band is loud

    1. Turn down the band. 2. Turn up the vocals. 3. Construct the arrangement so that 1 and 2 don't interfere with each other as much.

You need phantom power on every mic that needs it. It won't power a mixer.

I think he wants a pannable reverb. There's a way to do this, it just takes a lil extra work: 1. Have one of the mono tracks panned center, with reverb on. 2. Solo the track and do a mixdown with only that track (and reverb). 3. Bring the mixdown track back into the project. Since the track...

Maybe just a handshake.:laughings: Tracks 1-4 are mono tracks. If you record a stereo track (dual mono, actually) on tracks 1 and 2, you can put a loop effect (reverb, delay, e q etc) on one track only. Press the "track" button, then reverb. A little mixer will pop up, you can control the...

    Classical tuba duet

I'm in the same boat, I play violin. For years I tried to record in my living room, which is dry yet noisy and near a street. I bought a portable recorder (Boss BR800) And I'm looking forward to taking it to various venues to try and get a better sound.

    Classical tuba duet

Sounds good, nice playing. It's probably too wide. If you saw it in concert, the players would be standing next to each other mid-stage. It sounds like you played in a fairly dry room, added some reverb and slight echo, and chose the medium hall effect.:D Don't feel bad, it took me years to...

A (BBB) "type Of Certification For Mastering Studio's

+1 I know players with Masters degrees in music performance from top schools that I won't hire for a wedding group. Having a piece of paper saying "Joe's a good music/recording guy" is like having a piece of paper that says "Joe's good at basketball". You either got game or you don't, a piece...

The BR800 can move the location of the effect, I'm not familiar with the 600. By default it is at the beginning, so that tracks are recorded wet. One can move the effect to after the recorded track, I described it a few posts above: There are 3 choices: normal (record wet), dry, and the 3rd...

Reverb is considered a loop effect and is located in a different place. Push the "track" button and you'll see the loop effects (pan, eq, delay, reverb etc). When you select reverb, a little mixer will pop up, you can control the amount that is given to each track. As for the rest: push the...

    Mastering with a mixer

You are incorrect on a few things: 1. The Zoom creates wav. files for each track. To get them into your computer, just transfer each track over usb. Better yet, take the smart card outta the Zoom and stick it into your computer. An external mixer will do nothing except introduce more noise. The...

How does this sound so far?

Sounds great, nice and tight. I would consider making it an instrumental. Add a few lead guitar riffs and you could sell it to ESPN.

    Original orchestral music

Nice job, lots of good things going on. I suggest paying attention to articulations. For example, in real life strings taper a bit at the end of long notes. Synths don't, so you can draw it in with envelopes or do a semi-fade. There are other tricks like if an articulation is slightly slow in...

    VS1824CD - Recording in 48K

Aaah, I see. I have a Boss BR-800, which also uses the mt2 format. I use the wave converter a lot, works great. So it's basically the same thing: I take the card out of my Br-800 (or use usb) and stick it into the computer. The OP burns a data disc and sticks it into the computer. There's a...

    VS1824CD - Recording in 48K

DAW is Digital Audio Workstation, like Cubase. In your case, I believe that the Roland can burn data CDs? Try that. Then open the CD in a computer, import the track to wavepad, and convert it to 16/44.1 .wav.

    VS1824CD - Recording in 48K

Load your track in a DAW or editor and just save it as 44.1. Audacity is a free one. Wavepad is another.WavePad - Download Drag the file into wavepad, go to "save as" then pick .wav and 16/44.1

Email from Kennis music, offering me money!!

Yup, me too. This happens quite frequently in the music business. Unknown companies, based in Nigeria, scour websites looking for amateurs to give 50 grand to, then they do right away without asking for anything. There are no red flags here whatsoever. If there ever was a sure thing in life...
