    mic for recording violin solo?

    Get a pair of M-Audio Pulsar Mk 11 small condensers.... $200 on ebay for the pair. Very clear and smooth.... no harsh top end and they punch way above their weight.

    There's not a lot out there about this one so.... Anyone had any experience with it? It seems it might be a discontinued predecessor to the E965 except that it also runs on battery. Also got a pad and HPF.

    Can you identify this model please?

    It's a cheap setup where the cameraman has just taken the shotgun mic off the camera and given it to the presenter. It's probably a Sennheiser or Rode or AT.

    Budget mics that I have tried recently that impressed me on vocals (I'm baritone / tenor ) were the Rode NT1a..... The M-Audio Solaris..... The AKG Perception 420 All of these punch well above their weight/cost.... They can be found in excellent, used shape for about $150 each.... or $250 new...
