One note that should be maybe added to legion's post....
Send FX are not necessarily post fader. In Cubase SX, each channel that you are sending to an FX send has a prea nad post fade button. Just like inserts. Inserts are not always prefade. The last two slots (inserts 7 and 8) on each...
You may like your freeware plugs so much because you haven't used the UAD stuff yet ;)
Nothin against freeware, but the UAD stuff has a sound to it, at least certain plugs do, that I either can't, or find it hard to emulate with other plugs. Plus the DSP thing....
In many ways they are the same. First difference, they show up in your mixer screen as a different color. Second, FX channels are only accessed from individual channels through the aux sends of each channel instead of through the aux and the post fade output routing like group channels...
If you want, you could also look for an older Motu 2408 without the PCI card. The 2408's can be used as standalone units and that way it will convert your TDIF out from the preamp to ADAT optical, or analog.
I bought one at that price a little while ago with the voucher. I believe there are lots of places running that exact same special, and have been for a bit. Just in case there are some folks out there that would rather not buy theirs from MF, or can't buy it today ;)
I would agree with that to a certain extent. I think what is more important then the actual driver size is its actual design and the way it was implemented into the speaker system and design. 10" drivers are becoming more and more common in speaker designs lately, at least in high end...
The Roland Delays sound pretty good, but they have one little quirk you need to be aware of. The tap HAS to de done in mulitples of three. The first tap resets the delay time to 0, the second starts the clock, the third stops the clock for your tempo. If you tap in anything other than...
Line 6 used to make a rackmount delay if you can still find one. A lexicon PCM41 should be WAY over your price range, and a TC Electronics D2 used may still be just outside your price range :(
Does your mixer have multiple 2 track inputs or multiple stereo channels? This is how you would normally switch between monitoring different mixes or sources etc.... Your mixer is what I would use and then you can just switch what you are hearing from there. Are your studio monitors hooked up...

I would also reccomend performance audio if you want Mogami stuff. I happen to work for them as an engineer and its one of the things I love about their systems. Virtually every cable they use is Mogami. Speaker cables, mic cables, some power, patch snakes etc.... Great cables. Durable...
Well, its no suprise that my opinion was not accepted by some, but thats OK. As a point of reference though, my comment was made by tons of experience with them. I have not tried retubing one yet, but every "stock" blue voodoo I have used had a very bland tone. Lots of gain, by no dynamics...
Try the cable in the standard firewire 400 port. Also, before you go out buying stuff, are you positive your laptop supports firewire 800? Firewire 800 still isn't a very common method and most things that have firewire on them are not 800 compatible.
Personally, I would run away from any "deal" on a Blue Voo Doo amp. I don't care for Crate much, but the Blue Voo Doos are just bad sounding amps no matter what logo you slap on it, tubes or not. They are noisy, and he the thinnest most distinctively nasty sound I could really imagine. Often...
The turbosoiund you listed is the 12" version. If you are trying to cover more area, I would reccomend the TXD 151 instead. I do smaller rock shows all the time with just a single dual 15 sub and single 15 top for touring bands even off of just 1 face amp with no problems. No crossover even...
Its quite possible that what you are hearing is a difference in converters. Until you get the sonar tracks outputting through the Mbox it will be hard to say. As far as which one is higher quality, I would say the MOTU would get my vote, but that does not mean that for you or someone else as...
It sounds to me like when you say "add a delay to each track" that it is misleading a little. I assume that what you mean is that you want the multiple tracks to not all be "spot on" to give the guitars a thicker and more layered sound. If this is the case, what the other guys reccomended will...
There are many factors involved in how you set your amps. Generally, I run all amps at full as do most professionals. However, if you have a lot more PA then necessary, this can lead to a master fader level that is way too loud when set at unity. Personally, I would just drop the master fader...
