I'm basically recording two tracks
with a cascade m20 that runs through a firewire 410
track one is an acoustic guitar track
track 2 is a vocal track
after I mixdown the files, I play the mixed down track in edit view and the sound comes out stereo.
If I play the same mixed down track in...
Also depends on your voice and how well you sing. It's taken me sometime to actually like what I hear out of the monitors. I mainly use a slight reverb with my breathy vocals and falsetto. My voice is similar to this:

I'm recording vocals and one, possibly two acoustic guitar tracks. I have a m audio firewire 410, cascade m20, sm58, and an sm86 and am using cool edit pro. I'm obviously recording the vocals through the m20, which sounds decent with enough gain, but the problem I have is what to record the...
We were trying it w/headphones, the signal was coming out at the same time as I sung into the mic, it's just the software wasn't picking it up at the same time, we would here it but the signal wouldn't get processed by the software for a couple of seconds, and yes I realize the sm86 isn't. I'll...
I'm pretty sure we're using a version of Cakewalk sonar (so I'd say were having the same problems) So I can either replace the soundcard, and as for direct monitoring I would just mic the monitor with an instrument mic correct? We have a mackie 406m (I know it doesn't put out alot) but maybe...
I've recently been having trouble with My friend owns a tascam mixer (US-428) this is connected via firewire into his laptop. We were recording vocals earlier through a shure sm86 (yes I know it's not a suitable recording mic, and I don't want comments pertaining to the mic [unless the mic...
My friend has been recording demos for a while, and I'm not sure if knows anything about recording or if he just sucks or if it's the hardware and software we're using. For vocals On the songs he's been recording we plug the mic straight into a tascam mixer then route that to his laptap via...
As I stated in a previous post, I'm starting a little home recording studio designed just to lay vocal tracks, I've been reading various pro's and cons regarding each of these mics and I was wondering which would be a better deal. From what you guys have said the 2006 isn't as a dark a mic as...
Cool I was wondering about the preamps involved with both of the two, and the music I was going to record was along the lines of catchy posthardcore rock. I just wanted my vocals to be clear on the tracks. Thanks guys!
I need to start up little home recording project in order to lay vocal tracks. My friend had an mbox and I've heard the stuff it produced on his demos, I was wondering is an mbox worth the money or if I should wait and get a digi 002. The only mics I have are a B1, sm58, and sm86. (keep in mind...
