Fast Food Parts I & II
Here's the last Lonely Few cassingle release for 2009; Fast Food Parts I & II. Hand made, normal speed dubbed off the master tape, lino cut, typewriter & stamper artwork, no computer anywhere and limited to twenty copies only. And each one with it's own particular set of...
Go buy one of these Herman, cheap as chips and can take multiple input sources, blend them to create a single stereo pair and then drive multiple outputs. Also it can be switched to mono to check phase. I bought one a few months ago to deal with three monitor systems and then realized I could...
Stress Parts I & II - The Lonely Few
Here's our latest all analog Lonely Few cassette release and the second last for this year. Recorded in the same session a few weeks ago that Fast Food was recorded on. Live to two track Revox PR99 off the Studer 089, mastered down to mono on the Nagra and...
I've got a BR1600 that I thrash. I use it for recording real instruments and vocals with microphones. I use a drum kit (not electronic), no soft synths or midi and very little direct injected. Mikes on guitars and amps etc, but not played loud. In that way it works for me just fine. If I had a...
Mine's a console one like this...
They kind of look like they've been assembled from the same components Jeff. I don't know what the actual component differences are if any. Mine's in a roll around rack and tilted back so it'a kind of like the one you've got anyway. I prefer my machines on...
Dunno JP. I guess I meant having a good chunk of tape in there somewhere. Maybe just put a note on the post saying where the tape was used and leave it at that?
Then again, anybody out there recording on wire or cutting vinyl or lacquers? :o\
Any one else care to comment?
Seeing as we've been talking about this, and seeing as I've just stumbled out of another Lonely Few live to two track recording session here is one of the results.
Fast Food - a song about how the industry has our best interests at heart...
Recorded via the Studer 089 to the Revox PR99 two...
I use the tape medium for all the experimental / lo fi stuff. Last time I stuck anything up in the .mp3 forum off tape I got the 'it sounds weird' kind of comments from people who'd probably never been near a tape in their lives - especially not a cassette multitracker or a mono full track. I...
Ah yes Jeff, Zen and the Art of Analog Recording. It's the journey that's the fun, not the destination. That's how I've decided to look upon it all. Otherwise I might consider suicide.
It's one thirty on Sunday morning here in Sydney and I'm sitting here with a beer after another Lonely Few...
My fifteen year old lounge room cd player gave up the ghost so my studio one had to come down for household duties so needing replacement. I spotted two of these CR500 Master Recorders on eBay locally for half retail so I nabbed one. Today I hitched it up and burnt a couple of cd's on it. It's...
Yeah that's us, three piece going live to two track 1/4". Got a session coming up this weekend to get another three tracks down. Looking forward to that.

Looking at that device, I think it'll be fine Richard. Which way are you going? -10db to +4db, the other way round or both ways? I guess with most electronics in audio, the higher the cost then supposidly the better the components and then the better the signal.
I like that :D. I don't mind the hiss. Doesn't sound much like an Oberheim drum machine at the start but ?
Keep at it, it's right up our Lonely Few alley for sure.
:)
More stuff for you to follow up on. Maybe this is really what it is...

Erk, that'd get rid of the ferrites and just leave the backing tape? Maybe hand wash gently in warm soapy water and do not tumble dry?
Someone out there must have had something similar happen.
