New Project, want some mix advice, hep me make this sucker huge...

I have a couple suggestions. First off though. . . Great job on the mix. 1. The snare sounds a bit muffled at times. Maybe EQ some high end into it or add a reverb on it. I like to add a bit of grit into a snare with something like a tape saturation plugin or maybe an amp simulation plugin...

    2 Shure Unidyne 330 Ribbons

I am selling my two Unidyne 330's to get some cash for some outboard. The two mics are in absolutely perfect condition and will come very, very carefully packaged to your doorstep for the low, lowprice of: $600 for the pair. I see dinged up versions of these mics go for $250 or $350 on ebay...

Finally I am done!! A nice, slow song for you all.

Hmmm. . . I don't about any pops. Maybe it was just your download. There are some differences in cymbal hits once in a while that might draw attention, but no pops. Sorry if you don't like the chimes. People just associate bright mettalic sounds with Stars so to me it just fits. They shimmer...

Finally I am done!! A nice, slow song for you all.

Wireneck Yeah 25 hours of mixing was insane. I would get 2 or 3 songs done and take a meal break. Sometimes I mixed while standing in a different room if that makes any sense. I also had my guitarist as an extra set of ears for about 12 hours of the mixing. I actually only used 5 mics on the...

Finally I am done!! A nice, slow song for you all.

My band finished tracking our album on Sat, Oct 4th and after a grueling 25 hour mixdown (yes 25 straight with only meal breaks) I have the mixes back from the Mastering Engineer. He only did light mastering. He did a little limiting, expanded the stereo image, and added some air to my mixes...

Reverb settings to "fatten" things up a bit

A short .5 second small room reverb on a guitar solo or lead track can really make it stand out in a mix. The same goes for snare too. Beez

Poll: which mixer / soundcard do you use?

Aardvark Q10 Owner here. I agree the pres on the Aardvark are better than you'd think they should be. I have achieved some very ncie results with them. Beez

    TLII or TLM103?

OK so why don't you just get the U87 then? They go for around $1000 - $1300 on ebay all the time. Get an RNP and call it a day. I don't know what your budget is, but the U87 is indeed a good mic, and best of all it is quite reputable. It also sounds good on a variety of instruments. It is...

    any harcore punk mixmasters here?...:)

Maybe you could high pass the guitars at say 150hz or 200hz. I think they are sucking some of the life out of the low end of your mix. Or maybe you could just turn up the drums and vox and bass. Oh I know. Turn the guitars down!!!! Are you a guitarist?? :) They are really fuzzy, can you get...

Looking for some mix ideas/opinions... hook Tubie up...

My compliments. Great Bass Sound!!! Great Vox Great Kick My suggestions. 1. How about an really reverbed out guitar in the intro (on the cleaner lead guitar). Some kind of nice stereo 'verb that gives the idea of a big space. Then maybe make the lead parts that sound like that later in...

    Does This Sound Commercial?

Jake-Owa - Won't any distorted guitar start masking the drums when it is mixed so far forward as this one? I think I see what you mean though. I high passed the guitar at 150hz to let some more bass and toms come through. Hopefully that helps. I am posting an updated mix. Khompewtur - What are...
