RODE NTK / Voicemaster Pro or Great River ME-1NV

I have an NTK with an ME 1-NV and the combo sounds great especially with the ultra transparent RNC (which is key IMO) for my vocals... I use the GR for vocals, bass, and snare drum (purchased for vocals) I'm a power tenor so the pre's headroom when performing is a very important detail for me...

    RNC on snare?

thanks, I too have a great sounding but overly snappy snare and thickening it up going in has been a bit challenging. I'm using a 57 through a Great River ME-1NV and though I like the tone and the thick coloration of the GR when I push the gain, I still find the recorded track a bit thin and...

    8 foot ceiling and overheads

I've elected to go with 2 small condenser mics for overheads, along with kick, snare and bottom, 3 toms, and a mono LD room mic. with an 8 foot ceiling how high would you go for overheads in "trying" to get the most ambience and room size with the ideal stereo spread? (I've experimented with...

    Preamp For The RODE NTK

for $129.00 I dont believe you'll find a better pre than the studio projects VTB-1. its a solid state tube blend technology, you can dial in the tube for color or use it in S/S mode for its cleanest setting. (though I heard the S/S mode is best)......click on this link...
