Which company's drums do you play? VOTE

i have a pearl kit and a ludwig kit. both are from 1965. pearl drums from that era were very low quality. they sound good, though, and i prefer taking them to gigs rather than my ludwigs.

    fake ludwig drums?

wow, i didn't realize they had mounts like that. those mounts look just like the mount crafty mofo was selling on ebay at the same time he was selling the fake fab four kit: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7336695019&category=47089&ssPageName=WDVW&rd=1#ebayphotohosting the...

New to drums - help deciding on which kit

you can get far better drums for cheap nowadays than you could when i started out in the mid-'80s. for $500 you'll be able to get something very nice sounding, just be patient and try before you buy. check out a bunch of stores and sign up for the mailing list at musician's friend and...

    fake ludwig drums?

below is a link to a photo of a ludwig accent kit. notice that only one post comes out of the bass drum. the ebay kit has two holes in the bass drum. i'm guessing the fake ludwigs are lower quality than ludwig's bottom of the line drums...

    Greg Ginn-And his head

hah! i think that's the one. either that, or "the process of weeding out". some of the later black flag albums have some instruental tunes that are pretty wicked.

    Greg Ginn-And his head

yeah, but then you have to put up with henry rollins. "first four years" is rollins-free.

    Greg Ginn-And his head

easy mistake seeing as how they shared singers. i'll give you a B+, but you can boost it to an A by going out to get circle jerks' "wonderful" and black flag's "first four years". good stuff.

    Greg Ginn-And his head

uh, that's a circle jerks song, not black flag...though keith morris did sing for both bands.

    Greg Ginn-And his head

well, greg ginn was a dead head in a punk band. i'm not sure what relevance heavy metal has.

    Greg Ginn-And his head

for what it's worth, before he was in black flag greg ginn started a company called "solid state transformers", or SST, which is also the name of his record label. seems he was a fan of solid state technology. not that that means he "hated" tube amps. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dale_Nixon

    upgrading my kit

well, in that case it looks like mapex are less expensive than sonors (at musician's friend). both got rave reviews. i don't like my sonor snare stand at all, so i'd be inclined to get the mapex kit. whatever you get, i hope it serves you well.

    upgrading my kit

this is pretty common. before you buy a new kit try tuning your drums a little differently or setting up your drums in a different part of the room. there's no guarantee a new kit is going to sound good if you set them up in the same spot you've got your current kit. you seem set on getting...

    fake ludwig drums?

true, the second hole is for a second tom arm. ludwig bass drums should have ONLY one hole, as their toms are mounted off of one metal pole. pearl style drums have two metal poles sticking out of the bass drum. this does not necessarily mean your drums are pearl, though. lots of companies...

    fake ludwig drums?

hi guys, this is my first post on this board. i'm about to enter the world of home recording...that's how i discovered this site.anyway, as the owner of a '65 ludwig drumset i've been watching this thread with interest. i find it interesting that this ebay seller, as of yesterday, is...
