I am finishing up a project from a band called Autonomy,
For one song I put a rode NTK and an AT4033 side by side
I then had him sing the song between both mics, reason being
I used a radio voice on a couple of verses and put the radio voice
on the 4033 as the pre chorus comes in I slowly droped...
I agree overheads do add most of the sound but I tend to like my kick to have a lot of punch and snap and if your not recording in a huge room the tones most of the time in smaller rooms dont add what I like to here in my kick sound, in smaller rooms you will get more tighter reflections that...
Adats usually have a tiny bit of headroom over max, so if you
cant hear any thing wrong in the form of distortion you should be fine.
PS. listen to it all by it self and make sure you dont hear the peaks.
The way that I Keep the kick from bleeding is by putting a Blanket
over the front of the kick covering it and the mic, I had learned this from some Pro Studios I used to record in and it helps a lot.
It sounds like you have'nt heard eather comp so all in all the
RNC would be a lot better as a comp but I understand the money
thing so depending on how good you want the quilty of your recordings that should be your desiding factor because you could also spend thousands on a comp. but I really...
Well I finished the Project over the weekend.
Saturday I recorded two songs first recording the keyboard
direct then the cello, I ended up putting the rode NTK about seven inches from the treb side F hole then I put a pro 37r up about six feet from the floor about two feet in front of the...
First to the Texroadkill question and thanks for the spelling of cello, being that I work at Orchestra Hall I should have known that.
Well I have for mics the Rode NTK Tube/AT 4033/PS C1/most of the Oktava line.two AT pro 37r's / 1 ev N/D 868. Two AT AE 3000's. AKG D112. other misc.
My only...
Any favorite ways to micing the chello ?? I will be doing a project this weekend that requires a chello, I have lots of Ideas but it would be nice to here from others that might have had good success.
I have pro gear but the group I will be recording dont have a lot of time to expariment so I...
Also when she belts out have her back off the mic a few inchs or turn her head a little bit away from the mic.
Pro vocalists know the techniques and use them on stage and while recording.
Many of you probably know this but the Tascam user forum is down it says: As part of ongoing web site updates and server maintenance, the popular TASCAM online forums will be down for a time. Please come back later... there are some good things in store for www.tascam.com...
also you may have to put your hihat a little further from the snare
so many drummers now adays put there hihats almost on top of
the snare.
And as Pratt said keep the mic angled away from the hihat.
When I had my 32 as my main board I had a tascam DA78 and a DA38 hooked up using a 16 ch snake one half being quarter inch and the other half being RCA then for effects I used the alisis vertulizer and a couple of dbx units, this was a few years ago and being you would like to go pro tools I...
I just misunderstood when you said you tried top and bottum on
the snare.
By the way its pin two and three that get reversed not pin 1
pin 1 is the ground. I was wrong with my guess.
In most cases when using two mics on the snare one bottum
and one top mic you will need to phase reverse the bottum mic.
if you try it you will probably hear a big differance, I f you dont have phase reversal on your board or preamp you can take an
XLR cable and change the wireing on one side of...
