The Pod pro in my studio gets used mostly for the scratch track,
a lot of the bands come in and the guitar player will go through the pod the bass direct and the vocals in a booth and we'll go to work on getting those drums the way we want and the guitar sounds pretty decent for the drummer.
Personally I try not to remember my days with dats and cassetes
and it was only about two or three years ago.
The master link is great for sending home a copy of your current mixes and it is nice to be able to add volume and trim the songs.
but as Blue Bear said it does all depend on your needs...
I have both the M1 and the lexicon mpx500,
I almost always change peramaters and save them in the units.
but for drums on the lexicon, #9 is pretty good depending on what style of music your doing, I have used that patch many times without altering it.
I used to use #13 and #14 on the M1 for...
I put the mic 1 to 3 inches from the center of the cone but slightly aimed towards the side.
but keep in mind that each speaker also sounds differant and as Massive Master says its only a starting place and starting at a mid volume is also a good idea.
if you have a four speaker bottum watch...
The Tascam DM24 is around $2.400 and is used by a lot of pro audio guys. 32 ch board 24 ch's for recording and mixing and the other 8 chs are used for Aux' s and what not. It might be worth checking out for you unless your looking for something much bigger.
It also does have automation and...
I dont hook my DM24 up midi but I know that three of the places you should look to see what the settings are set up like are
(1) Shift key then option button check Sync/TC and check all your sync sources.
(2) The midi MTC button. are your settings under machine control setup, the way they...
I will go out to the studio later and see what I can figure out for you, Im sure its something thats just not configured right in one of the banks.
(1) Question, You are just hooking a sm57 into the board via XLR cable or Quater inch unbalenced??
(2) Are you just experimenting with the board...
Todays day and age $31.500 for that ? you would have to be nuts or filthy rich with nothing better to do with your money.
I would bet the guy would probably take a much lower price if offered.
A couple of things to check ( I dont know your total situation so
dont be bothered if you have already covered these)
1) just for the hell of it set your fader to 0db, make sure you press down on the fader because they are touch sensitive and they wont read being nudged.
then set your trim...
If you were to put a head set on and put it into the headphone jack on the DM24 can you hear the signal from your 57 then??
Just asking because I'm wondering if you got the IO on the board setup right.
when I used the alisis 32 I used two DA38s also but I then got the Tascam dm24 board
and that was heaven except I went and bought a DA78 so I would have 24 tracks and have a clock to sink everything together. they still work with the DM24 but you cant use the Automation and controls on the board...
Yes you can sync to DA38's together.
get a Tascam PW88S cable
connect to remote sync out from master deck to remote sync in on the slave deck, then you will need a tascam termination plug hooked into the remote sync out on the slave deck because the last unit in the chain must always be setup...
I use a 57 on the top 3 to 6 inchs off the top angled away from the hat and I use a 57 on the bottum facing up in reverse phase.
and I always make sure the snares on the bottum are tight other wise you hear the rattle of them.
