    Demolition site+fire!

Too much camera jumping around for my taste, but very impressive.

    Assembling a Music Video Kit

Well when you get into HMI... which can be screwed up fairly easily, costs a small fortune, and (specially compared to LEDs) have a distressingly limited life then you're pretty much spot on the money.

    Assembling a Music Video Kit

I definitely appreciate the subtleties of lighting, I just don't have the budget. The versatile Lowell fixtures accept up to 235W bulbs and should work well in tight spaces and accent lighting. And they're cheap. Kind of, sort of.

Much better mic, not much better recordings

I contributed a Sound Devices USBPre 2 and a Sennheiser MK4 LDC, while a friend contributed a VERY nice guitar and an old-school TLM-103 to a little shoot-out. The files appear below: https://soundcloud.com/wheelema/tlm103-guitar-solo-normalized...

    Assembling a Music Video Kit

The intent of the f/2 lens is to lessen the demand on lighting but your suggestion is appreciated. I'm limited to a 15 amp circuit and tungsten fixtures will eat that damn quick, plus the fact that the LEDs will run off of 12VDC. I'll definitely have barn doors and gels. I'll probably have a...

Comparing Studio One to Mixcraft and Ableton Live

Well, to be fair, putting on socks and underwear could be extraordinarily difficult for me. I'm committed to Ableton and I can certainly see it's power. I was using Sony Sound Forge, but comparing that to Live is like comparing a economy two-door to a crew-cab pickup... the pickup carries a lot...

    Assembling a Music Video Kit

Actually it's just a video kit that might be used for music videos. Dependent on getting rid of a 5th wheel trailer. This is more exercise then probability. Sony NEX-VG30 Camcorder w/Metabones Speedbooster & Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM zoom lens Flolight MicroBeam 512/5600K Spot (x2)...

Comparing Studio One to Mixcraft and Ableton Live

Well, this won't be much help but I've just gotten back into Ableton after a LONG hiatus and it definitely has a learning curve. It's very powerful... and kind of kicking my a**. I intend to purchase an Ableton Push but I'm waiting for the price to drop below $500.

Entry level recording setup for gaming commentary/podcast.

Sure. Eh. Focusrite Scarlet has an excellent rep. I'd stretch for a Shure SM7B.

Using the same CC to start audio channels on each scene.. is this possible?

I'm still trying to figure out how to record two audio tracks at the same time.

How many sounds and samples do I need to compensate for an utter lack of talent?

I love Mexican food and I over-indulged. I blame the salsa.

    Need a new PC............Help ??

Ivy Bridge IS the latest and greatest, but only three Ivy Bridge processors (last I checked) have 4000HD graphics, the rest are still saddled with 2500HD. Also note that only i5 and i7 are overclockable and not even all of them. Do your research. Luck.

How many sounds and samples do I need to compensate for an utter lack of talent?

Yes, the post was sarcastic commentary on the plethora of sounds and samples marketed to mediocrity.

How many sounds and samples do I need to compensate for an utter lack of talent?

Just curious. I have a goodly amount now and my 'music' still sucks. Maybe I should buy a Maschine?

    Need a new PC............Help ??

I just bought a Lenovo Win8 box dedicated to recording w/3.4GHz dual core i3, 4GB RAM (8GB max), and 1TB HDD for $270... BUT... It only has a 280W power supply, 4 SATA ports (2 used), 3 PCI Express x1 slots, and 1 PCI Express x16 slot. Needless to say I made sure to buy a powered USB hub as I'm...

    Advice on somewhat portable setup

On the cheap end there's the Zoom R24 @ $500. On the pricey end there's the Zaxcom Nomad 8 @ approx. $5,500 and the Sound Devices 788T-SSD @ $6,650. In between these extremes I'm not aware of any field recorders with 8 inputs coming near $2K.

    Recording Audio & Video

I personally had a copy of SVMSHDP 11 (what a mouthful!). It comes bundled with a copy of Sony Sound Forge which was... like... SCORE! The package should work nicely for you though admittedly I didn't try what you are going to try and obviously it has it's constraints.
