Honestly, it is THESE responses that I was afraid of.
I was really hoping that I had overlooked some unit that met my needs outside of Alesis and Zoom.
Back when I was making $80,000 a year, I wouldn't have even started a thread like this.
But with money tight, I need to search under every...
The soundcard is hardware inside the computer. Like everything else in the consumer world, there are low and high end versions.
Some are specifically designed for PC gamers, some are specifically designed for home/professional recording.
Does this help?
Carl
Yeah, I considered the Virtualizer. It's only $99 and really had my interest until I discovered that it was eight inches deep.
Honestly, the Microverb was NOT my first choice. I considered getting another Zoom (which I could afford and would fit in my rack), but this one dying on my left a bad...
No, I don't make a living at this anymore.
I do play out from time to time and by no means is it a substantial portion of my income.
I'm making about $10 an hour after taxes thanks to outsourcing.
What I wanted was not validation (unless validation was what I should get for my choice).
What...
A testiment to the indomantable human spirit.
Hopefully, he'll rise above obscurity and not just as a novelty act.
He can play.
The biggest surprise is that he uses the hammer technique exclusively and never brings his prosthetic into play. I wonder why he even wears it in performance...
The soundcard in your PC is responsible for all the sounds that come out of your computer's stereo speakers. Not to be confused with the beeps that the mother board's BIOS makes when you power up.
Everything from MIDI, MP3s, CDs and DVDs depend on your computer's soundcard to be heard.
Simple...
I have other Alesis gear and I don't find any of it noisy.
That dosen't mean that the Microverb isn't noisy (haven't heard one yet), but I can't say the same about my other Alesis peices.
If it seems like I'm hanging onto the Alesis through this thread, it's because the size and price are...
I've found the Microverb for $118 new and GC will price match it.
Unless I could get one of these other units (which look like fine units) for $150 or less, I'll have to shrug my shoulders and stick with the Alesis.
Unless the Alesis is so noisy that it's worth all that extra cash.
Carl
the Lexicon MX200 and the TC M300 do look like very good units. Perhaps too good.
Like I said, I don't need any additional effects from this gear. Just decent reverb. What I'm seeing on both of these are tons of other effects that I don't want to pay for because I won't be using them.
At a...
The fastest way is to buy a PCI card with true MIDI ports on it.
Something like the E-MU 0404 card.
I think that between the two you mentioin, a joystick port MIDI adapter is better than USB.
Carl
I need a shallow unit or it won't fit in my rack.
The Alesis MV4 has the dimensions that I need, but does it also have the balls?
To be honest, I'm using this for my live rig and not for recording, so it dosen't have to be that spectacular. However, I don't want metalic sounding reverbs that...
There are many reasons to buy Behringer, just as there are many reasons NOT to buy.
If money is an issue for you and your end result is just to play live, for yourself or for project recordings (demos) then buy Behringer. I do.
If money isn't an object, you plan to record seriously or are...
The whole solo is done with portamento.
I achieve the three octave drops at the end by changing the the octave selector on my analog synth while holding D.
Carl
The F above middle C on my RD100 is much louder than it should be.
Is this a simple repair or should I get it to a service center?
Anyone know what causes this?
Thanks,
Carl
The ram cards are very expensive. They're for storing home made patches or sequences.
There's software out there for editing the QS8 synths or you can muddle through the front panel as well.
Save to the blank card instead of overwriting the internal memory.
Carl
I've had about 200 transactions on ebay. Of those I've recieved 146 feedbacks and of those 142 were "unique".
I have never recieved nor have I ever given negative feeback on ebay. 100% positive feedback for me.
Ebay rocks.
Carl
The short answer is, no not really.
Of all the cards that the QS series use, the ones that came free with the purchase (in the late 90s) was the best one.
Spend the money on blank ram cards for it and roll your own, you'll be better off.
