Look on page 19 of the manual. One (mono)pad in the C/D bank uses 3 voices, and one (stereo) pad uses 4 voices(which is the limit!!!) Can't really tell you why but...DAMN I like beer!!!!
I'm using the Sure Thing cd labeler and it seems to work just fine. It is compatible with almost every companies labels, which is really convenient. What's wrong with the Memorex software?
Mixer, monitors...
Use the search function in the upper right hand corner of the page, it is quite useful! You'll find that many questions have been answered numerous times.
This guy also has some other DIY projects if you hit the "back to DIY" link at the bottom of his page. He doesn't really go into depth on how to make the other stuff though. :(
There's also http://www.neocomputers.com
They'll build one for you or you can buy components to build your own. If you build your own, definitely go check out pricewatch! I've never dealt with neocomputers but they seem to be reputable.
Most (not all) hip hop producers have a MPC2000 in their kit. The MPC is a sampling drum machine. IT DOES NOT COME WITH BUILT-IN SOUNDS! They run about $1200-1300 new, but you can find them used for cheaper. If you go the sampler route I would suggest picking up a turntable and some old records...
I just pondered upon this site and I thought it may be of some interest! I don't know how well they would work...John???

I don't own a RNC (certainly looking at them though) but I believe you would need more than one if you wanted to compress say, a snare and a kick separately.
Gotcha!!! :) That'll work for now...but it's still about time to look for a new board huh! Thanks for the valuble input! BTW, great site...nice and simple(in a good way), keep the flash stuff outta there, some say it's more "pro" looking...I say it's a bitch!!! ;)...
Is there any way I can still use a compressor to its full effect without the inserts? If not I guess it's time to look for a new mixer! Thanks for your help!
In another post someone was asking about compressors and running them through the FX sends/returns, and you said they are typically wired in(I think that's the term.) What exactly does "wired in" mean? Sorry for the ignorance..
