Please share your opinions on this mix

sounds like a well tuned kit. I'd say there's too much panned right. left feels empty. there's fair amount of room sound too which isn't necessarily bad but you'll have to make that fit the song or vice versa. nice solid kick. snare doesn't have much crack but that's to taste I guess. cymbals...

I'm Alive [Nu Metal/Hard Rock] Please critique?

Like it. Wish the drums didn't get so lost when the vocals are full throttle.

    Criticism Please! (Rock track)

kick is too loud. cymbals too low. like the breakdown at the end. The clean lead tone on the quiet part is way too thin and bland. Must try a better setting on whatever amp sim you're using. What language? Nice tune. Reminds me of Sunny Day Real Estate.

DECENTER - Falling Away (mix v1)

Sounds like a tight band. mix is all guitar. drums are struggling to get through. no bass freqs at all really esp lacking on drums. gotta strain to find the kick. Even the vocals are too low as is the guitar solo. If there's any cymbals in there they're smeared out into the guitar.

    Pygmy Beat Softdance

Sounds better than I remember. Must have been listening to an earlier version. Didn't realize people were updating songs within threads. Still think sax could be better. Maybe it could use some reverb to match the guitars. They have a nice ambience. But I guess the whole point of this...

How can I improve this mix?

Hard to say without knowing what you've done so far. Sounds like it's got a blanket on it. No much highs or lows. Guitar sounds good in general but did you eq the highs out? Biggest thing missing is the overall bass. Is there a bass guitar in there? Can you turn it up? And/or jack up the eq in...

Let me know what you think!!

guitar sounds great. I usually like a little string noise but it's def excessive on the intro. Very nice voice. Vocal comes in a bit too low and thin. Sounds better as it goes along for some reason. Your backup singer sounds nice but I wish she was more in sync with you. And you're too much of a...

This one's sort of an anthem.

Lot's of times, that's exactly who I want to hear from!

This one's sort of an anthem.

Like your ideas. I hadn't thought of some of that. Will definitely try it out. Easy enough. Thanks for the vocal praise. If anything, I'd say that's what I do. I only learned to play stuff cuz all my musician friends are a bunch of punk ass bitches.

Someimes you know you came up with something ground breaking.......

Well the mix level of the kick and bass sound right enough. There's always a little room for personal preference of course. What I would say is just plain wrong is that it just sounds like there's a HPF on the whole mix. I hear the batter just fine. I hear the hi mids of the bass guitar just...

This one's sort of an anthem.

thanks frits. very helpful feedback. I'm wondering how much patience folks'll have for the intro. I wanna stick to my artistic vision but I want others to like it too. And yeah, I will be tightening everything up. I'm just anxious to get some ears on it and not overly concerned with perfection...

Oh ok, yeah. Didn't bother to read the lyrics. My bad. I guess "ain't" sounded like "hate" when I was listening.

Tears And Mascara - the first post-Jongleurs Jongleurs song...

Nice. Much better. Just throwing this out there- I wonder how it would sound with more/different reverb on the snare. It still sounds like a different space from everything else. The cymbals match. The kick is ok I guess. Plus, I'd just like to hear more drums overall myself but I guess that...

Someimes you know you came up with something ground breaking.......

Awsome riff! Not sure what clicking supposed to be listening for. I hear some clicks like very brief digital clips but don't see how that could be coming from the amp. I think the distortion sounds about perfect. Overall mix lacks bass content. Drums sound pretty clean and nice overall tone but...

    Manslick gets Mellow

Very pretty song. I listended twice! I love the string noise in certain places, actually. Definitely too distracting in other places. Sometimes you can edit those out but I think it will impossible for a lot places here. I would consider re-recording the guitar if possible. I'm guessing you...

Yes, Journey! That's what I was going for; didn't know how to say it. The hats are def too in your face, esp in the first part.

Tears And Mascara - the first post-Jongleurs Jongleurs song...

Ok, so you're like a midi drum programming master. Very impressive. Does sound better than I remembered but still not loving it. Maybe the problem I'm having is the reverb on the snare sample. It just sounds like it was recorded from a distance in a small room which might be fine in the right...

    Pygmy Beat Softdance

Very nice guitars. sound cleanly and fluidly played. The basic impression though is a very diminished? sound. The solo too. I get the feeling the drums were recorded well, just not mixed right. Everything except the arpeggio guitar and maybe vocals sound too low or muffled. sometimes slamming...

    Toto africa ( instrumental )

The shaker or whatever is all washed out and way too prominent. Totally smeared. Don't know if you have that too hot or what. The lead "vocal" part is way too low. Cool of you to take this on though. Think you could find a better, less cheezy sounding pad at 2:30 and beyond.

...right click link then "open in new tab"(in firefox anyway sure other browsers have similar functionality) "I don't want you using my backdoor"? "Keep in mind I hate the fuckin' queers"? I was hoping this was irony but it's kinda hard to brush off without knowing you personally. Don't know...
