    Two questions about "fattening" sound.

guitarist is playing a Godin freeway classic. (how funny! a jazz guitar for metal??) but lemme tell you. it sounds pretty good when he plugs it in to that marshal 4x12. not much of a metal enthusiast, but the tone is pretty clean, in a dirty way, if you catch my drift, hahahaha.

    Two questions about "fattening" sound.

alright, that sounds fine, but it arises a few more questions for number 1, wont the SM lose proximity effect and therefore the big booming sound we are looking for? or are you saying i should close mic with the condenser? for number 2, that sounds fine. double micing sounds good. the only...

    One Man Bands

@ moresound, that actually makes a lot of sense to me. i think i'll try try that too. but then again, im not sure why but whenever i play along to a click track i tend to lose some feel. when i can hear drums or any other instrument i get in to it more.

    One Man Bands

word. i guess ill just throw the click on. i (obviously) know the songs well enough to know my cues for fills/changes ect but i tend to play better when i can play along to something. i guess i can just do rough takes of each instrument induvidially and then record the better takes over that.

    Micing a full kit

working on a pretty ambitious project. although i appreciate all genres of music, i thought it would be really challenging to make a short (4-5 song) EP of metal songs me and my friend wrote. i know what im going to do for guitars, vox and bass, but i know that like in any recording environment...
