    New build

I have often said that Fender would be a better company if they sold unassembled guitars. I have owned many strats over the years, and I modified everyone to get it more to my liking. A couple of years ago I decided to put together a strat, and used a body and neck from Warmoth. I got the same...

Good power amp for cabinet impulse capture?

Any solid state power amp with good clean power will do the trick. Find a used QSC, and you are in business. If you really want to keep it inexpensive, just buy some IR cab packs. If Heavy is your thing, look at the Ownhammer packs. If you want versatility + excellent IR's, get the Redwirez Big...

Is There a Verbal Metronome Plugin?

Convert the audio to midi using flex pro, then use the midi editor to line things up.

How do I edit Logic Pro X's Sound Library

Make alias files for the the sound library, then move the originals to your external. This frees up space on your computer, and from there you just use the Browse feature in logic to access anything you need. If you don't use an external, just use the browse feature located in the sound file...

What do I need in a Mac DAW?

Most interfaces have an optical in, which allows you to sync an inexpensive mic pre to it for more inputs. This is an inexpensive way to get more inputs. IMO, it is better to base your interface selection on quality, rather than quantity of inputs. I use the Universal Audio Apollo Twin, and it...

Volume problem (electric guitar recording with dynamic microphone)

Are you checking your signal going into logic pre fader? If you are comparing your recorded signal to samples in your logic library, keep in mind that most of those signals are hot to the point of clipping, so not a good comparison. ( I load the gain utility into the channel strip, while...

    Production Desk

Here is my desk, mostly finished. The shelf holding the keyboard is temporary. I decided it would be best to bring it home and start using it, before I committed to something permanent. Still can't make up my mind about how exactly I want to address that part of it. Oh well, it will come to me...

    Production Desk

That turned out real nice. I have spent more time looking at, and buying tools/wood lately than I have music gear. Last week a friend sent me a pic of a guitar he was thinking of buying, and the first thing I noticed in the pic was the table that the guitar was posed on. Lol. Both hobbies can be...

    Production Desk

I have not finished yet. I have been real busy with work this week, and haven't had the extra time to work on it. I did manage to get the first coat of clear on the top today , though. I drew up some great ideas last night that will help with the multi-functionality of the desk. I have...

    Production Desk

It will be on a swing arm shelf. I will be able to swing it out when I need it, and swing it in under the desk when I don't. I will design it in a way that it will be multi-positional. I will use this desk for a lot more than recording, and it will sit in my living room, so the idea is to keep...

Walnut seems reasonably priced around here, though I am new to woodworking, and have nothing to compare with. The walnut for the feet was 8 x 6 x 8/4 and was $72. Are prices comparable in your area? Yours is nice and clean. Pro job on that.

    Production Desk

Here is my build still in progress. The inset on the front will house a sliding shelf for a midi controller. I will also have some interchangeable inserts that fit there. One that is flush with the top for doing paperwork and biz, and one that will be a music book stand for practice. Audio...

big review of the Kemper Profiler amp

Jimmy Herring would dis-agree with you on that. The wet side of his live rig relies on the AX ultra for reverb. I don't care for some of the music he plays on, but that fucker has some killer tone. The only way I can stomach the Dead is the Jazz is Dead stuff he plays on.

big review of the Kemper Profiler amp

I looked at the Kemper rack mount before buying the AXFX ll. The Kemper gets some okay tones, but nothing that sounds close to a real tube amp.(To my ears) Espeacially on cleans. To be fair, I can say the same for the AX, although the latter gets closer than anything Ive heard. I did get some...

Will Do Anything For Person Who Solves This

When you tried this on the windows machine, was the USB hub still in the chain? I would take that out of the chain and try again on the Mac. Just about every USB device Ive owned warned against using a hub.

    The New Tone Thread

If the deal on the Chupa falls through, check the classifieds over at the RigTalk forum. They pop up there often, and usually for under a grand.

    The New Tone Thread

Yeah, I almost always go back and redo with the real thing. One thing you can't get with a highly attenuated amp is feed back. The feedback on the two rock is really musical, and I use it a lot. I'm thinking I will keep the unleash for the gigs where I can't get as loud as I want, and get a Rock...

    The New Tone Thread

Yeah, I'm kinda torn on taking it back. That clip was recorded at midnight in my town home. I am going to at least order the Rock Crusher Recording, and try some comparisons before making up my mind. Most all of the stuff I record with my band are scratch tracks for the purpose of capturing...

    The New Tone Thread

It's not that I don't like it, as it does sound good, but recording silently with headphones is a function it lacks. You must have a cab plugged into the unit at all times. Not so with the Rock Crusher recording. When I record my band being able to use IR's instead of cabs will be handy for...

    The New Tone Thread

A local shop let me Take a BadCat unleash attenuator home to try for the weekend. I am not a fan of attenuators at all, but present living situation requires me to play nice with the neighbors. So it is either bring down the volume, or load up my shit and head to the band room, which isn't much...
