    Digital out - where to input?

    Thanks guys. Is aes/ebu better for this in any way then? I'm guessing that the balanced line makes it very reliable data-wise, but is it worth looking for a card with that i/o or are the other methods (ADAT lightpipe and S/PDIF) as reliable in your experience?

    Hi - a bit of a novice question: If I have a bit of kit like an onyx 800R which has a digital out (AES/EBU, ADAT lightpipe and S/PDIF) - how do I get this into my computer? Do I need a specific type of pci card and if so which is best? All help very welcome. :confused:

    Some Help with compression.

    Well, if I have this right, the knee refers to how 'hard' the compression comes in. Say you have it set to come in at -10db at 8:1: without knee set it will suddenly start attenuating the signal at -10db. With knee this is gradual so the compression will start at (say) -15db at a ratio of 2:1...

    Carpet is a good cheap thing to use for damping if you have any lying around. Have fun on those drums !! :D

    Hi, I'm looking to take up a second instrument and have decided on the piano/kb but I'm a total newbie when it comes to kb's so I'm not sure what to go for. I've been looking at the basic offerings of Yamaha and Casio, things in the region of 100-200 GBP but don't really know what I'm looking...
