    Line 6 Toneport

Hi everyone, Firstly I have indeed searched through the back catalogue of topics, which seemed to answer my initial question regarding how good the Toneport is. It seems like it is recommended for a person like myself who doesn't have the equipment, space or room setup in order to mic my amps...

So should I get a subwoofer?

Should I get a subwoofer with my monitor speakers or not? I ask because I am unsure whether you are meant to mix with a subwoofer or not. With a subwoofer on surely this can lead to being shy with applying the bass in the mix. Or am I wrong?

I remixed one of my bands songs "Conflict of Interests". Would appreciate your thoughts. I wanted the drums to be more thumpy. Thoughts? http://www.myspace.com/sammybarker EDIT: Shit the bed I put the wrong link :P

Urgh... Might get flamed for this...

Makes sense now I must admit. It would be nice for something like I mentioned as a learning tool and as a basis to work from - but like you guys have put clearly... Perhaps not a rational idea? Thanks for all your help guys, appreciated as ever.

Urgh... Might get flamed for this...

Yeah, that's a difficulty I never really considered - but now you mention it I guess that's true. Guess it shows how little I know about musical theory. But you guys make some good points actually, I'm still confused however: (Noob question again, don't flame) - if music theory doesn't...

How do you like your songs?

I really like short songs. Like someone mentioned above - it's nice to have a song that leaves you wanting more. If you feel that it's is dragging on, and your finger is hovering over the "skip" button, it's too long.

Urgh... Might get flamed for this...

Now I know what you are thinking - "Go and learn music theory you n00b"... but I am curious as to why no one has made such a thing yet (maybe they have but I can't find it). Imagine you have just got a guitar chord sequence worked out. Maybe a guitar sequence? Chordfind.com will help you if you...

    So my potential set up...

Hi guys, I am thinking of setting up a little home studio area over the summer. This is not meant to be a full on a studio with sound proofing etc - I want to get to grips with using the software, get a real feel for mixing, and just get some general experience in before I plan on taking this...

    Line 6 POD 2.0

The guitar sounds really nice on that. Is that purely POD?

    Line 6 POD 2.0

It sounds like the POD will be a good choice to get me going on recording some demos. Do I just plug the guitar into it and then line that into my soundcard?

    Line 6 POD 2.0

Hi, Thanks for the excellent, informative and prompt responses guys. Really appreciated. What do we play? I am most likely going to end up recording classic rock, pop-punk, punk or blues with it. I mean - obviously I am only looking at recording demo type things. I just wondered what my best...

    Line 6 POD 2.0

How good is this system for recording? I am looking at getting a new setup for recording - and I want some kind of direct amp modelling hardware. The sort of stuff I would look at recording is mainly rock, classic rock, grunge and also with the possibilty of some sugar coated guitar rock. The...

Best mix I have ever done I think...

Ah-hah. You will all laugh when I tell you but, what the hell. Drum machine on Ableton Live - and a Marshall Valve Amp lined out into my laptop microphone port :P Sammy.

Best mix I have ever done I think...

Thanks for the thoughts, we'll definitely keep it in mind. I think we are gonna go to a studio soon - so all should be cool :D

Best mix I have ever done I think...

Thanks for the tips guys - gonna have a little mess around with it this morning and take your tips on board. Thanks again. EDIT: Updated version online now. Drums have a bit more thump to them (I think) and the intro is a bit louder. :D Sammy, SN.

Best mix I have ever done I think...

Thanks for the tips. I'll turn that introduction up and the hi-hat down. Simple fix. Thanks again :D

Best mix I have ever done I think...

... And I know you will scoff 'cos it isn't all that great... YET if you measure improvement then I am very happy. And I want to improve EVEN more. Please tell me what you think of the mix and the song, and where I can improve (both areas) next time: http://www.myspace.com/slipperynipplerock...
