Help me decided on a new studio name.

Studio 79. Nice ring to it.

I hate micing amps (Continued). I bought a vamp and here is my sample!

Oh yeah 100% agreed. If I COULD mic an amp - I would. Don't get me wrong.

Now I don't know (or care) what anyone else thinks - but I thought that sounded pretty darn nice.

I hate micing amps (Continued). I bought a vamp and here is my sample!

I recently bought a Toneport and am getting some bass sounds out of it that I am REALLY happy with. Guitar sounds I'm not too sure about yet - I can get some clean sounds out of the Toneport that sound fairly nice on my monitors - and if I double those tracks up and apply the right EQ - cutting...

    Doubling Up Guitar Tracks

I have a helluva lot of amp settings available because I am using (and really enjoying playing with) the Line 6 Toneport. For those that don't have it (even those with sound proof rooms and a wide range of mics and amps) I really recommend it. The range of sounds you can get from the thing for...

    Doubling Up Guitar Tracks

Is this a no go? My band has two guitars, there are a lot of occassions in songs when one guitar will solo or play a lead riff, and where there is no sining. The other guitarist will usually just play power chords in this time - should I be re recording the rythmn backings in this time with...

    Painted Glass

The vocals definitely need to come up I think. The drums seem a bit too loud also. Maybe EQ out some of the higher frequencies on the snare - sounds a bit too bright for my liking.

    What to do..

You can't play the K Station stand alone? Has to be plugged into a computer?

    swirlyish pan

You could create this effect quite well by automating volume and pan. What DAW are you using and are you familiar with automation in it? Axis solution will work well too (and will be less time consuming).

    What to do..

Ok there is a K Station and an X Station on Ebay at similar prices. The midi controller stuff sounds REALLY useful - but I want to have a damn good synth to use live aswell. What would your advise be?

Do drums has to be always 1st?

I seriously recommend you play to a click or simple midi beat :)

    Robotic noises...

I'm looking for a synth or a technique that creates robotic industrial style noises and beeps. Any ideas guys? Something that could just compliment and electronic mix. Thanks in advance, Sammy.

Guitars fitting in with the mix...

Hi Mattman, Mainly Ravity. And I used a nice effect on the guitar when I doubled it up to get the odd sound. Maybe it's just because I have made it it sounds wrong - I'm gonna try high passing a synth note or reversing a cymbal crash just before the guitar so it doesn't sound so out of place...

Guitars fitting in with the mix...

You think? It sounds horribly out of place to me?

Guitars fitting in with the mix...

I can post you a sound clip yes... already the advice is helping me guys so thanks very much. I think I am concerned how the guitar is sounding soloed at this moment in time - as I have basically just been playing with the Toneport... everything sounds a little crunchy (while I'm happy with the...

Guitars fitting in with the mix...

The other day I attempted to record some guitar on top of a synth track I had made. After recording the track, I went back to listen to it (it was just a guitar strum in fairness) and it sounded horribly out of place. Possibly because of the build up into the strum and possibly becasuse of the...

    What to do..

Novation K-Station is better than the X-Station? I'm ruling the microkorg out now. How come the Alesis gives more control, this is such a n00by question, but the X-Station has plenty more knobs? In fact - how do you programme the Micron, there are like, only a few buttons on it. Serious...

    What to do..

I'm sure this question has been asked before - I had a little search around but didn't really find the answer to my question, but yeah anyway, back on subject. I'm in a "classic rock" band, and I certainly am considering playing a synth in the band, the second guitarist dropping to my current...
